Looks like my wheels and tires won't be here before the 8th..is it safe to run a patched tire in an autocross event? It's on the rear of my front drive car. Thanks

I have done it many times with no problems.

I've gone speeds exceeding the tire manufacture warning with 3 plugs in one tire. Then I remembered about them and went back to the speed limit.

Speed ratings are based on long term use at those speeds. Something that nobody ever sees, and I find it funny that people base anything on speed ratings.

I'm just stating that I went 130mph for a couple of minutes with 3 plugs in the left rear and 1 in the right rear.

I could care less about a speed rating. as long as I'm not driving on a donut

Really, I'd say that it depends on the patch.
There's really no demands on the tire at an autocross that would cause a catastrophic failure (i.e. a blowout) of a tire that is properly maintained and inflated. That said, inside patches should be fine so long as they're installed properly (in the tread of the tire and not the sidewall or shoulder). I'd expect the worse case scenario to be failure of the patch resulting in a slow leak.
I carry plugs and a can of fix-o-flat with me in the cobra, but I don't trust them for anything other than being a stopgap until I can get the car home (and take the tire to a tire shop) or directly to a tire shop for a proper repair.

I've run with both patches (preferred) and plugs (potentially iffy) both at autox and on the track. As long as the repair is in the tread and not the sidewall, I'd trust it.

I do remember the nail being on the tread, albeit on the bit outside of it. But it was patched, and not plugged. As long as I don't have some catastropic failure ahead of me, I'll give it a whirl.
I've driven the tire a bit hard on the street with no problems, so I suppose it wouldnt be much different

A properly installed patch should be as safe as the tire was before it was punctured. The only dangers are if the belt structure was damaged by whatever punctured the tire (a tear rather than just a small hole), or if the tire tech didn't seal the OUTSIDE of the hole with contact cement or whatever and water got behind the tread and caused the belts to rust.

Now I've just go to worry about the weird noise my car makes when taking right handed turns....

patches are fine theyre grounded and glued to the tire no to mention the presure of the air so its god to go

i ran an autocross with a plug in the rear of my front wheel drive car and no problems.. and 4k miles after that untill i sold the car. that was just a $4.00 plug set at advance, im sure if you have a professionally patched tire you will have no problems at all
