I would favor JVC for the bell & whistles along with more functionality. The tools will shout for pioneer because it will fast lane you to ricer domination with the neon blue screen.
Better yet, tell your mom to shove it and buy it for yourself. If she wants eclipse let her come work her ass off at CC and buy it.

tell your mom to cram it in her cram hole.

Pioneer nav units rock. Go with the Pioneer and she will be happy.

I have to second that. I'm not a huge fan of Pioneer's other stuff...it tends to be overpriced and boring (although, it is basically bullet proof), but their nav stuff is second to none.
I don't have any experience with Eclipse personally. I had the opportunity to pick up the line, and I talked to several guys I know who have been in this business a long time. They all said to stay away due to quality issues. These guys were all shop owners / installers (no reps, etc.), and one even still carried eclipse. Just FYI.

quality issues? if pioneer is bullet proof eclipse must be bullet/fire/water/everything else proof.... i really dont care too much about the bells and whistles i want more quality, i wanted that eclipse deck because it has 8 volt pre-outs. but IMO that $2700 dollar nav unit for 1400~ is a much better deal. its the one with the built in 30 gig hd and all.

I would rank Pioneer right up there with Eclipse as far as decks go. In fact, given the choice, I would personally probably go with Pioneer over Eclipse. Wouldn't even consider any of the others you listed. But I'll second the telling your mom to cram it up her cram hole....doubt she's going to be able to tell the difference between two decks anyways.

bet she will... she will make very good use of it beeing a sales person traveling all over the hillsborough, sarasota and surrounding counties. as much as she does for me, im more then willing to get a differant deck for her to save 1500~

though i do find it odd that you felt the need to bring that up for no apparent reason.

I'm very happy with it. I don't listen to radio, so I can't speak for the tuner, but the DVD/CD section is as good as anything I've ever used. I'm also running an XM MyFi through th aux in's, and it is very clean, as well.
I'm using it as the centerpiece for my 5.1 system, and the adjustability is excellent. It also has the basic 7 band digital eq thingy with presets...seems to do a pretty good job, but I don't have much use for it. I usually get by pretty well without an eq, and if I need one for this car, it will be a DQS or DQXS.
If you come to the meet on Saturday, you can hear it for yourself.
