Default Which timeframe for oil changes?

I got an S13 hatch, and I just put in 10W-30 Valvoline SynPower Full Synthetic Oil. I heard that synthetic oil is only to be changed every 6,000mi. Is this is true? Or it is still the normal 3,000mi?

With a car of that age, I'd still stick to the 3 months / 3k miles rule. Just to be on the safe side. Oil changes....and oil for that matter is definitely not something you wanna skimp on.

I change filters at oil change midpoints, and keep magnets on the filter bottom.
Most cars are not driven in "extreme service" anymore, requiring 3k oil changes, anyway; but if you think oil is cheap, go for it!

This fact is being advertised recently with a "long distance" motor oil.......probably when regular oil will last anyway.
In the 60's a motor was trashed at 100k. I've seen Hondas with over 1/4 mill
on the odometer, so our metal technology has improved.-Bob

I use synthetic in my 69 Nova, though.....

We have a 92 Chevy full size van with 228,000 miles on it. It goes about 5-6,000 mile intervals on regular oil.

2001 civic with synthetic, reccommended oil change is 10k. Each car is different so I would go with the manufacturers recommendations.
