View Full Version : Turning the April 8th event into a monthly meet

Depending on the interest level, I was thinking of turning our AHQ meet into a monthly or bi-monthly event.

I'd move my regular 3rd Friday spl contest to a Saturday, and combine the two. Or, ditch the spl thing (entry fee, trophies, rules, etc.) and just have free metering as part of the Saturday event (I'll bet this gets most of the votes).

I was also thinking of adding some small classes...like ohms law, relaying, basic fiberglass fabrication, system tuning, gain setting, box design, etc. Most would still be free, but some might have a small material charge associated. Maybe some of you smart guys would even volunteer to help out, and teach a couple :D .

Since I'd be doing this on my own time, and basically for free, I'd like to have it as early in the day as possible...like maybe 2 ish, so I have some of my weekend left, but since its only once a month, I can be flexible with that.

You may be asking why I would do this. Well, of course I hope that some of you eventually buy something from me, or send your friends, but there's more too it than that. For one, I love this stuff, and sitting around talking about it with other people who love it is cool. For another, we all start somewhere, and for me, I hung around shops. Some guys actually took the time to teach me things, and I will always be greatful for that. This is my way to give back.

So, who would be interested, what time works best, and what types of 'classes' would you like to see?

How many people show up right now?

Ronnie used to host car shows around here in Tampa and would let people enter a "bass off" for 5$. You get 2-3 runs and the loudest on the meter gets a trophy and such. They also had burn out contests, exhaust loudness contests....attracted a lot of people. Before you guys start to flame, I must admit it was very fun and motivational (Wants to upgrade or redo your system to show up guys the next week) Something to consider? What kind of meter do you have? I got a 145.1 but Im not sure if it was termpro or what

I used to go to Ronnie's show. I started mine, when his died. Unfortunately, I've never been able to get much of a crowd. That's why I'm thinking of doing something different.

I have a TermPro meter. Last time I was at Ronnie's show, he was using an audiocontrol...3055 I think. They tend to be somewhat higher than a termpro.

will have to see who shows up and whether there aer a lot of dicks there. I cant handle meets with too many rich guys who look down on you because you only have exhaust and a CAI =/

Rich guys? Unfortunately, they haven't found my shop, yet. Besides, I'm posting this on TR :D

And, since its an audio show, I doubt anyone will look down on you because you don't have many car mods. Now, that uncoated box, that might get you looked down upon :crack:

Seriously, it will be my show, and all will be welcome. If we get a couple knuckleheads who have to trash others, they just won't be invited back.
