Lincoln has told me a few times some company is making a kit to drop an LS1 into an S chassis, dont know about Zs. There is also kits for FC and FD Mazdas

there was a guy by the name of Leo that had a white one running around with an LS1 about 4 years ago. He has a small cam and custom headers. That thing moved out. He said the LS1 was lighter than the stock motor. Sounds like a good swap.

Ghost, you n your small blocks. Small blocks make great power and guzzle some good gas, get out of that old 1970's mentality, the lsx engines makes great power by using 1/3 of the gas that a normal small block would use. Go with the lsx engines, the higher the x number the better, but the more expensive.

$300 sbc > $1500+ lsx motor
wiring for sbc > wiring for lsx motor
ease of swap for sbc (uhhh...coil...battery...done) > ease of swap for lsx
with all that said I'd rather have an lsx swapped car but it's very expensive to swap

Thats sooo true, a monkey could install a sbc. They basicly need 2 or 3 wires.

350s were stuck in everything, but alot of the cheap ones were just 170 hp boat anchors. they are good for a foundation if you wanna shove cam/intake and some decent performance heads on there

if it's your first time doing a swap, an lsx motor will be a nightmare

If you want to do some reading on 300ZX and 240SX V8 swaps. There is a lot of information in LS1Tech and Torque Central (under the RX7 V8 forum).

but the lsx motor will increase the resale value of the car and be hella fast!

plus having a transmission with an overdrive gear or two usually helps in the gas mileage thing

My best friend had a 87 300z with a 327, ported 2.02's, tunnel ram holley 450's, and 3in side pipes w/o mufflers. You want to talk about getting looks from everyone. Had to be one of the coolest cars I've even been in.

hinsonsupercars.com has a bolt in kit for the 240's i believe now.
grannysspeedshop.com makes a vg30/sbc motor mount adapter plate.
the only big difference between ls1's and sbc's is fuel injection and transmission as far as gas mileage goes. th350 with 3.9 gears and im doing 55mph getting 10-12mpg from my rx7. same car with a Lt1 T56 slapped on and the 6th gear would bring it up to almost 20mpg.

shit no.
im tossing a solid rear with some 3.08-3.23 gears and a big lockup stall converter. i should be able to cruise at 65-70 comfortably, and traction/power permitting, still be able to carry the wheels.
