OK So i'm in the process of doing the body work ( again) on my chevelle. but this time I'm doing it right and doing it all myself. Its a 72 chevelle, black on black right now. The interior is perfect, engine is running really strong, tranny just got done with a year ago. th400, 2500 stall, shit kit, Rearend is a 12 bolt, eaton posi, 3.42 gears( its to be driven street), Engine 355, ported and polished, holley 750, edelbrock intake, hooker headers, flowmasters 2.5 H pipe, and a 100 shot.
SO i'm thinking of doing this.. Doing all the body work and then painting it a flat black, no shine just black and then buying 18's in the back and 17's in the front. Chrome wheels. It'll be a sleeper that i drive to work.
What do you guys think? you think the flat black with big chrome wheels will look stupid ? or??? and any tips on some good chevelle places that will sell whole pieces. like the back between the back glass and trunk?? This is really the only rust i have but i have a vinyl top too so who konws whats under there. I'm gonna rip off the vinyl top and make it a hard top

Why waste all that time on body work in order to make it look like a primered Joe Dirt car? Put 17 coats of black and 17 more coats of clear on it, and then the chrome rims. No 1972 Chevelle with that engine setup is going to be a, "Sleeper." People'll hear that car running a mile away.

Well for right now I only have enough money to do the body work, So i'll primer it up and put a flat black color on it until the new house is done and i have enough money to do the paint right.. I did the black paint once and did it real deep but the small rust spots on the back make it look ridiculous..
and sleeper? i guess i meant its a nice car but does have the fancy paint job. Pretty much everyone can tell its the real deal with that cam and H pipe. I just like cruising around in it. Dont race it much. But if someone comes up with nice car and has his wife/girl in the car I'm still ready to run with him.
back in 2001/2002 i beat the shit out of a trans am with the sticker still on the window.. ha ! .. i wonder if he was test driving it.. Either way. Pics to surely follow.. before and after
Oh and suspension. I'm doing the suspension this week anyone have any reccomendations? NO traction bars though..

sounds like a cool idea to me. I saw in a mag where they added a dulling agent to the clear coat to give it that primered look at the same time protecting the paint and body.
