I have a 94 Ford Ranger XLT, has around 215,000 miles. The truck is in great condition, still has A/c, runs decent. The truck is very weak, and is on its last leg. I drive about 70 miles a day, and this is my mule. Im looking for Info on what I would need to do to drop a new 01+ v6 motor in my ranger. Im thinking the 100 extra Hp will make it a little better to drive, and I can pull trailer. Anyone can refer me to a shop that would do a custom swap like this that would be great, or have any info. Thanks
Ryan

Hey, I have a ranger that has the 4cyl. in it as well, are u goning to go mudding in it or what, cause if u are then the 2.3L is not as bad as u think I know someone who mudds with the 2.3 and he said it does just find, but I was thinking about swapping the v6 my self and heard that it was more expensive to swap than buy a ranger with the v6 in it.

it would prolly be about the same amount of money to just buy a newer one, and possibly a lot less headace

No, I can get the v6 for around $1200, with low miles. I know to swap the motor would be alot cheaper than buying a new truck. trying to save money here. No im not going muddin either. This will be a daily driver, thinking about getting a jetski, would want to pull that. anyone have any info on this, or can refer me to some shops.

2.3T....You can get one out of a Turbocoupe/Merkur/SVO...Fairly cheap..Theres a guy on here with the 2.3T in his..And it hauls ass..And thats a very reliable motor. My friend had one with 220,000miles on his and was running 11's with it.So in stock form I'm sure that it would last forever..

I have done 5.0 swaps in these and close to the same year v-6 swaps. To do that new of a v-6 you would need whole harness, dash, etc. ECU mounts in different spot on the newer trucks. Only other thing to do is grab all the parts off a 93-94 4.0 engine ie,intake, exhaust, sensors, engine and dash harnesses, ecu, etc.

I would think it'd be much easier to go 5.0

Carbed 5.0 easier yes, less expensive? Depends on if you build it like I would or junkyard special.

Well, Im not looking for speed, I just want a nice reliable car, like I have had for the past 10 years. I know the v6 wont last as long as the 4 cylinder, that is what everyone says, but I need a little bit more power, and the motor that is in there now, is not running to good.

My truck is in great condition, Paint looks excellent, Interior is perfect. New tires, new headlight and taillights. The truck looks great. Im thinking, if I drop a new motor in it, I can drive this truck for 10 more years.

This is my suggestion. If you are going to go through the time, effort, and expense of doing an engine swap, why not make it count?

I splurged here:

To expand upon my earlier post, you could do a turbo 4 and make it count as well. I'm just biased towards the 8 obviously.
