So many people have 5+ 10's or 12's in there car... and then you find out what kind, and there all complete JUNK.. i dont understand why they dont just get 1-2 nice sounding speakers... WHHHHYYYY? someone help me make sence of this.

I dunno what your talking about, I did 6 Visonik 12s in a Town Car the other day that pwned all.

It's the "bigger is better" belief. I think alot people do it just for the "wow" factor of having more subs than one is use to seeing, even if they are $50 subs. Eye candy. While others are simply uneducated, and don't understand that in car audio, quality comes before quantity. Funniest part is when they think they can run all those subs off a single Boss 500w amp.

 i deffinatly agree about the running them all of one amp... I really cannot stand when people come into CC wanting to buy 4 sony xplode 12's and say that none of our amps are strong enough to push them because there 1200 watts each.. first off, why not do 2 decent subs??? get the mtx 5500 or 7500's, or the cvr or l5-l7, or maybe the eclipse subs.. second, go learn about car audio.. PEAK MEANS NOTHING, our 1200 watt kicker amp would easily pwn all the sonys you can throw at it!

people think hey its cheaper so i can buy more of them. 5 10s thats like 50 inches of cone space, that should piss off the neighbors. and then theres the ebay wholesale deals where you get like 5 shitty speackers for really cheap. mainly id say its because thos people dont know anything about audio and take quantity over quality. some people are completely tone deff and they cant tell the differance between clean bass and a blown speaker...kinda like how a painter can see a blended repair as where a avarage person off the street would look at it and say daymn you cant even tell there was a repair there. ill admit i used to be one of thos ignorant dumasses but ive really learned alot through you guys and thats why i love the ahq fourm. im a fabricator not a electrial genious, but i defentally get by with the stuff ive learned here in ahq

at CC we have 2 sony 12's on display in a sealed box. they sound like ASS. complete ASS. you give them any power and they sound like there going to fall apart... we have one infinity reference 12' on the other side that blows them out of the water in loudness and clarity, and its cheaper!

Haven't seen the new Sony stuff yet, but I gotta say, I'd take Kicker over Sony anyday on just the name alone. The CVR may be a sloppy sub, but it can also be pretty loud...I've yet to see a "loud" Sony sub. Their amps are huge and cheap looking. And their decks are overly flashy with a bunch of useless features, like their trying to appeal to a teenage girl.

Almost as bad as spelling retarded wrong. TWICE.

Could be 4 shitty subs, sounds like crap but gets loud. That is the entire purpose. Some people dont want SQ, some just want the loudest car on the block, and they dont care about brand or whatever. most of the g-rides around here have bullet tweeters everywhere and sound like pure crap. But I sure hear them 1/4 mile away. And thats what they want.

They actually used aluminum in the sub.. I didnt get that. I wouldnt compare them to a type R but they are on par with kicker CVRs now.

Wow I can't believe you think Sony's are better than Kicker...WOW...thats all I can really say...well anyway...Kicker Lows with Polk highs is about the nicest sounding system you can get so long as you have a good Kenwood or Eclipse head to push them with. A system with 2 sealed 12" CVRS a 600.1 a 650.4 with polk 6 1/2 components in front with like polk 6 1/2's in rear with stinger wiring and a Eclipse or Kenwood Excelon head and a good capacitor and dry cell battery would be perfect for just about anything you can throw at it...that's basically a great setup for any audio enthusiast not looking for 8 15"s in their car. Polk mids suck and kicker subs suck. If thats your idea of a good sounding system you must dig loud rattling crap with no cleanliness or accuracy of reproduction. Sony subs are no where near something I would curse on anyone but theyr 06 line seiously beats the only pentagon P5s that sounded like ass even in a sealed box. They are right on par with kickers shitty smack and rumble approach of throwing as much excusion as you can with no consideration for cone resonance or proper decay slopes.

I have kenwood excellon headunit, 4ch amp, and mids and a diamond D312 on a polk momo amp and I am barely satisfied ith the sound quality the mids put out.

Dynamat absorbs sound and that means less dbs? That's wierd because I can't say I've ever seen a decrease in dbs from any vehicle I've ever installed dynamat. Vibrating panels is the result of lossed decibels. Every vibrating/flexing panel in a vehicle is a source of lossed dBs. Any actual competitor, SQ or SPL, knows this.

To prove my point that he thinks he knows more about this than anyone else, and all just because he has a wall. You act like we care that you have a wall. I know someone that had a wall of 8 of the old school RF subs, in a 90' VW GTI. So does that mean he knows more than you? Cause if he doesn't then i guess no one knows more about car audio than you. So from now on, no one is allowed to answer any technical questions in the Audio HQ cause your wrong. This guy knows the answers to everything.

I have to agree here. There is a guy named bubba webber, who is getting 150's out of two memphis 15's. I'll leave that at that, though...those of you who know bubba, know that 'cosmetics' is not his thing.

Up until last year, the legal world db record, 178 db, was held by a van with 4 crossfire 15's...on 40,000 watts!

Even my lowly caprice, with 2 15's does 146 on my termpro meter. Since termpro's tend to be a little low vs. others (but extremely consistant), it would probably do 148+ on a 3055, or something. And for the SQ vs. SPL argument, my caprice sounds extremely good.

Gee, maybe we should all get together somewhere where there is a meter, and duke this thing out. Oh wait, you could all come to my shop on April 8, for the AHQ get together! I used to be an Iasca SQ and RTA judge, and we've no doubt got some other experienced folks here...we could turn this thing into a little contest.

Not going to show up? Oh wow, there's a BIG suprise. :jerkoff:

You had the gas to drive down to Sound Express on Hillsborough Ave. to "be a part of" those two SPL vehicles you mentioned earlier though...right? T&J Customs is down the same road.

Do everyone a favor and spare us all from posting anymore of your BS until you grow the balls to actually back up your big mouth.

Phone rings: Hello...Yes sir...you're really happy with the work we did...thanks...and you really have a lot of respect for our shop...wow that's great...now scrapin_honda will care!!

Seriously, man, I'm not sure where you are coming from with that, and I'm not sure who exactly 'anyone' is that has to have respect for my shop in your eyes.

You don't know me, and I don't know you, but know what? I've got respect for you. Know why? Because I have respect for anyone who has a passion for their hobby, and who sets goals and acheives them. Based on your posts, you are obviously passionate, and it looks like you have set goals for your system, and have attained them. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about those goals...they are yours, and yours alone.

I actually have a lot of respect for SPL competitors as a whole. Anyone who thinks you can just throw a bunch of stuff in a car and be competitive, doesn't know much about it. These guys have it down to a science. They have to, as .1 DB can win or lose. Sure, their stuff doesn't always sound good, and look pretty, but it serves a purpose. Kind of like jet powered funny cars.

Personally, I prefer sound quality, but that's just me.

I know Bubba and Ethan, as well as Mike Powell from Radio Active. They are all great guys. I've also met Alma Gates, Mike Jones (not the rapper), and a guy you may have heard of named Virgil Williams (this guy is like the father of SPL contests). For you sound quality guys, I had lunch with Richard Clark and Lucio Proni once. Does that make me special? No. Smarter? Maybe. Lucky? Hell yes. Should you care? Probably not.

My comment about coming to the meet to settle this was just a comment, and a blatant plug for the meet. I never said you had anything to prove, and I won't have any less respect for you if you don't show.

Maybe I haven't earned your respect...I've been into car audio for almost 19 years. I've been both an Iasca competitor and a judge, and I've managed to open my own business, and keep it open for over a year. Maybe one day, I'll put out something that you will respect, maybe I won't. But until I earn your disrespect, I think you're out of line.

We do just about anything...at least once. We do audio, video, security, wheels, tires, motor swaps, performance parts, fiberglass, fabrication, some minor paint, lowering, lifting...

I need to put some new stuff up there, but check out www.Tjelitecustoms.com (http://www.Tjelitecustoms.com) to see some of our stuff.

Your opinion. He sent me a PM, though, and I have respect for him.

We can all get hot headed, especially when we argue a position we feel strongly about.

and what world do u live in that therew are people with 30 subs driving around in??i mean how many 30 sub setups have you seen?? where do you get this number??i think if you would look you would realize alot of these setups are 4 subs.thats about 26 short of 30...and 6-7k on 2 12s and mids and highs??unless your going to win trophies in sound quality, that is KRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so 30 was jsut a number i was exagerating...though i have see 22 subs in one and 16 in another so to a point its not that far a strech...go to big cars shows youll see insane stuff like that..like u know a car with 8 waterfalls in it..yeah see that twice.... and yeah its a competition install set up RTA'ed and tuned and SPL'ed ..So yeah hoping to win a trophy this weekend at daytona in fact...which just happens to be where im sitting right now so im goin back to the pool yall have fun.
