Default Nitrous Question

Until I get my shortblock built up, can my 420a hold a 75 dry shot safely? My mom is cracking on me and wants to race me with her car (06 TL) and I really dont want to loose to my mom that wouldnt be good. I currently have a header intake ported tb plugs and wires full 2.5'' catback and short throw so I dont know how close it will be. Whats everyones opionion on Jackson Automotive shortblocks as opposed to SBR.

75 shot should be fine. That's the most I'd run single fogger on a 4 cyl, go direct port for 100+. I wouldn't run more than 100 on a 4 cyl in the first place, though.

75 dry... how will your kit be adding fuel? Pushing extra fuel pressure? I'm not sure I trust that method all the way to a 75 shot but I'm no nitrous expert. Maybe set the base timing back 2-3 degrees and take a chance with it.

New TL has 270hp, doesn't it? Runs low 14's?

I'm kinda leerie about going direct port with 87k on the clock so I might plumb a dry shot into the intake or something im not quite sure tho. Im buying a zex kit off my friend with 3 different nozzles-I think to take the TL I might need the 75 shot Idk I havent driven my car much b/c its unregistered and uninsured so I dont know how it pulls or anything

I'm pretty sure a dry kit doens't add in fuel hence being "dry".. i would recommend a wet kit. Anyone correct me if im wrong.

The TL originally had 270hp but for this year with all the new testing bullshit and the EPA rating garbage it went down to 258hp, still the same and still has a shitload of torque steer. I jumped on it at like 15 coming out of my subdivision and the bitch pulled to the right and spun like hell and chirped 2nd(its auto). Idk if they all do this as this is the only TL I have ever driven but damn I think my mom could take me

"Dry" nitrous system

In a "Dry" nitrous system, extra fuel required is introduced through the fuel injectors, keeping the upper intake dry of fuel. This property is what gives the "Dry" system its name. Fuel flow can be increased either by increasing the pressure in the fuel injection system, or by modifying the vehicles' computer to increase the time the fuel injectors remain open during the engine cycle. This is typically done by spraying nitrous past the MAF sensor (Mass Air Flow), which then sends a signal to the vehicles computer telling it that it sees colder denser air, and that more fuel is needed. This is typically not an exact method of adding fuel. Once additional fuel has been introduced, it can burn with the extra oxygen provided by the Nitrous, providing additional power.

Hmm-maybe I'll just take a loss this seems like its too involved for my lazy ass-Ill worry if I lose to her after the shortblock goes in, then if I lose I'll get serious but until then I'm looking for a simple way to beat her and the 1st thing that I thought of was spray-Cant I just retard the timing about 2 degrees and shoot it into the intake?

I was speaking of the nitrous system itself, not the whole process. Although i can understand how you thought that i didn't actually understand the difference. I'm like President Bush, i mean what i say, but i dont say what i mean

Ah, but if you look at the post of mine that you quoted you see that I was talking about fuel delivery through the injectors to start with.

Ok. A ZEX kit really isn't that complicated and you probably won't blow up your engine. Just buy it, install it according to the instructions, and throw a 55 or 65 jet in there depending on what you have. Go out and race her and see if that's enough, if not, just wait until you have more for her.

Why are you worried about using the safest method of nitrous delivery based upon miles?


A Dry kit can also be made a wet kit with the additional fuel lines, jets,and solenoids.
