So there's maybe 5 regulars in here, if that, a handful of stragglers, and a couple newbs poking their heads in every now and again....but it'd be nice to get a little more action/participation/traffic/whatever going on in here. Looking for ideas, suggestions, and opinions on the forum. We need more regulars, more threads, more polls, more pictures, more everything. Let's hear what you got....

get a regular meet where we can get the attention of other AUDIO enthusiasts. Of course, TR is not very friendly to non tuners so that could be difficult.

TR use to be somewhat unfriendly to non tuners. It has evolved tremendously however into a melting pot of just about everykind of person out there....hence the creation of TampaForums. If you've ever attended a TR function, you know that members drive everything from tuned imports to trucks, suv's, and everyday grocery getters. I know what you mean though, on the internet everyone seems like a diehard racing internet hardass.

A meet would be great, as long as we can get a decent number of people to actually show up and make it worthwhile. Seems like Billy Bob is on one side of Tampa and Jimbo is in Spring Hill and no one wants to drive more than 5 minutes down the road....if you know what I mean.

Face to face is the best way. If you generate real world relationships then you can have a stronger more active forum. ON mp3car.com I hosted a meet at my home. Around 25 people showed up. We had food, looked at cars, and I even gave a few how-to's on custom work...my shop is also at my home. The key is planning and organization.

I totally agree TBSpyder...it is tuff to get people to travel. Funny thing it is a car thing..they should want to drive the car..lol.

I would be willing to go to a meet, It just has to be on one of my days off

other then that, i really dont know how else to bring attention here...alot of the people on this site arent all that into car audio, and the few that are seem to be jackasses. so besides the few regulars, :dunno:

Well, I've also noticed only about half the members who say they're going to show up actually do...which means we need a good amount of people atleast showing some interest. I think the most successful AHQ meet would be one that was held on a day which also had something else going on...such as a car show, TR get together, etc.

yeah i completely see what you mean, and agree that ahq needs quite a boost.. I havent been to an auq meet yet. I honestly didnt care about car audio anymore untill i got a job selling it .

I could host a small (15-20 car) meet at my shop. Maybe I could kick my 3rd Friday SPL contest to a Saturday, and combine it with a meet. Its not much of a contest yet, anyway...more of a get together where we play with the meter :-)

I'm in Oldsmar...pretty central to just about everywhere.

i think maybe pictures would help people get more interested. If you guys maybe made a sticky for our setups, and it doesnt even have to be ours but famous peoples systems, just for some eye candy. im just thinking alot of people dont really enjoy reading about frequencies and wiring and things, but everyone likes to see cool pictures. just my thought. peace

Ill show up as long as its not on a weekend i have a show to go to... i live in bradenton so for anyone to use the excuse that tampa is to far away they really arent that into cars and car audio so u wouldn't want them around anyway. But let me know when we wanna do one and let get it going. just FYI ill be in daytona march 21-26th so i wouldn't be able to make it for that one

i'm only coming if rangcrx is there.

one of the depressing things i've found while working at best buy is that most people don't give a shit about good sound. they just want something to play louder than their stock speakers and rattle their license plate. sound quality is about as high on the VAST majority of people's priority list as getting plantar's warts. there's very very few people who actually know what the hell they're talking about when it comes to this stuff, and they're usually way less vocal than the idiots that think adding 2 comp vr's and a rockford fosgate amp makes their system competition ready.

i mean shit, i remember the first AHQ meet, it was me, jesse, aaron1017 and joker (who showed up completely at random). this forum has grown a little since then, but you'll be hard pressed to get anything more than 10 to 12 people seriously interested, and out of them probably half will actually show

this is how ahq has always been. i guess i'm just a pessimist.

i had a guy come in a couple of weeks back, immediately started running his mouth about how awesome his system sounded, and that it would blow away any alpine or fosgate system... i guess to try and impress me because i was wearing a blue shirt? :dunno:

anyways, i asked him what he had in his car, and to this day i'm absolutely amazed i didn't break out laughing so hard that i cried. his setup consisted of 2 pyle amps (10 gauge wire), lightning audio subs (in a fucking plywood box no less... hand to god) and some brand i didn't even recognize for his mids and head unit, i assume he got them from the flea market. by some fucking miracle i was able to contain myself, though i did crack a little smile.

That's because it's Best Buy...I'm willing to bet over 60% of your customers are under 25years old. There's actually alot of high end customers out there who are audiophiles but they don't shop at best buy.

It's also very hard because I know that most of us dont have the $$ or the time to constantly be adding on. Unlike the tuning section, people can change an exhaust and talk about it, rear end and talk about it, blah blah blah. I dont think many of our systems have changed that vastly over the last year.

Good point. Hell, I've actually went backwards...I don't even have a system in my newest vehicle, but that's mainly because the top and doors are usually off and even if it made past the theifs, it probably wouldn't last too long when I go mudding and offroading. Maybe when I have some more disposable income....

That could be a possibility, but first we would need enough members interested in entering their car into a show in order to make it worthwhile for the people putting the show on. I think right now, the majority of the member, atleast in this forum, are interested in just meeting up.

Already working on something for next month (April). Just need to find out when more of yall are available...Saturday's or Sunday's. Right now, we're leaning towards a Sunday meet.

We can do Quaker Steak as well if there is enough interest, I'm sure there would be no problem in setting aside some space for us as long as there is no loud & obnoxious bumping.

Need some input...because ofcourse, we want a meet where as many people will be available to participate as possible. Basically, a meet is in the works, it will most likely take place on a Saturday. What I would like to know is the time of the day that the most of you would be willing to come, either late afternoon (around 4 to 6pm) OR early evening (around 6 to 8pm). Please post up your thoughts.

Earlier in the day seems to make more sense, so we can actually see the systems we are looking at. But, since DST starts April 2nd, there will still be light at 7, so later would probably work, as well.

I'm there either way :D
