just got a new cd player and the amp remote wire isnt workin(the one that turns the amp on and off with the car). ive had the same setup for about 2 years and it worked this whole time. as soon as i took out the old cd player it stopped working. as soon as i noticed it not workin i put the old player back in and still didnt. tried two wiring harnesses on both cd players and nothin worked.

does anyone have any other ways of troubleshooting or if i can hook it up anywhere else on the car. help me out.

take a dmm and check the amp turn on lead at the amp, then at the head unit. If it's on at the head unit, but not at the amp, check the path of the remote wire. If it's not working on either head unit, then you might think about trying a friends. If it's on at the amp and not at the head unit, I'd suggest an exorcism.

But no, the amp turn on wire could have shorted somewhere along the way, and it may even be blowing out the head units. You could take a temporary run, and just hook it up to the cd player and the amp, but not run it under the seats etc, just to double check.

This is where I had some problems with my amp. My amp wasnt turning on after I soldered the subs speaker line to the termainals.
-teh ground might not be hitting metal or it came loose.
-their might be a blown fuse.
-Your remote may be hooked up wrong to a older remote line (like mine was)
-a power cable could be crimped....Basically narrow what I and the other guys said which applies to you and you will eventually figure it out.

Simply test the remote wire for 12v at the deck and then at the amp with a multimeter...this will tell you if the problem is in your deck, amp, or wire. Problem solved.
