sounds like rod knock to me as well...under boost it should become even worse(since the engine is under load at that time) dont drive it far like that(not more than a mile or two) or it can seriously destroy engine internals, I drove my car home from work with a spun rod bearing once(about 15 miles) and it destroyed my crank, rod, and oil pump

yep that's a definitive rod knock that makes any owner sad, I can't believe it, our motors are supposed to be stronger than this but only time will tell since our cars are only a few years old. Sorry bro I know how you took care of your baby, soon you'll have it back on the streets...

Thanks to Josiah for tearing it down!

How it happened?

Water injection was draining into the IC etc when sitting. Apparently when these shurflo pumps are off, they still allow water to trickle through. Since the source is higher than the pump, it drains down.

Now, I've had the WI for about 2 years! But only recently I switched to a progressive contrroller, at which time! I removed the check valve I had in the system.
Why? I wish I knew

Thanks for the sound clip. I used it as an educational video for my girl. She drives my car alot so I told her..."do you hear this, if the car ever sounds like that turn it off and pullover and whatever you do dont call me. Chances are I will choke you.lol."

Why would you do such a thing? SRT4 and stock is something that should never be said in the same sentence.

I'm at 47k on my modded car, she still runs like a beast...that being said if I every do get that sound from my engine it just means its time to build up the bottom end!!!

it's a front wheel drive car... which is really all i should have to say... anything above 250ish on the street is useless.

if you really want further justification, i can't afford to rebuild it when i blow something up spraying it and dodge denies my warranty claim.

any stock SRT4(or any other stock car for that matter) will of course last an average of 120K miles before needing a rebuild, but of course when you mod a car to hell and back, no, it wont last more than 50K, I consider 50K good mileage for a built engine myself, or a stock engine pushed far beyond the boundaries of what it was intended for increased power=decreased engine life, theres no way around it
