ok the system I will be buying is going to be around 1600 watts true power, so I need a class D amp at around 2000, and I need either (2) 10"at 8oo-1000 a piece, or (2) 12" at 8oo-1ooo a piece. I am doing this for show so the speakers dont need a design, but i would like for the amp to be decent looking, I can also paint it :D. I don't care about name brands any more, just the quality of the sound, thanks

sorry, It was for the watts........I can only afford about 200-300 for the system, used amps dont bother me as long as they still work good.

Wow, that's gonna be tough to pull off a 1600w sub/amp combo for under $300. Definetly check out the Audio For Sale forum here, maybe you'll get lucky.

Realistically, a good 1600w rms amp (or 2 good 800w rms amps would be more likely) would easily run you over $800. Subs that could handle this amount of power are going to run anywhere from about $250 and up per sub.

Judging from your budget, I would re-evaluate your game plan. What are you trying to accomplish with this system? Do you want loud? Or do you want clean? Or do you just want some bling in your trunk?

I just noticed that you are considering painting the amps - beware you will destroy the thermal properties of the aluminum if you paint it without using thermal conducting paint. You would be better off to put a thick quilt over it.

ok, I just sold some items so my budget has increased. IM NOT GETTING PYRAMID, A FRIEND HAS ONE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE SHIT, SORRY DUDE. I was thinking hifonics but I didnt know how they would hit. Now when I say 250, I had a friend tha could get it wholesale, I foregot to mention that....retail would be over 600 for that set-up. I like pioneer subs, 800 RMS each, but my amp is the biggest problem.....

I dont care about bling in the trunk, I like a sleek look, with power behind its balls. So tell me what a good amp is for around 250-300 at around 1600-1800- RMS

Did you just try and answer yourself there?

for 300 you can buy yourself a piece of shit brand name amp rated at "2000 watts rms", but it will probably not really help at all and be more prone to be a fire hazard than anything for your car

as soon as you really change your moneyplan, start talking business, for right now, save up your money dude; you arent getting ANYTHING for "show" with less than 500 bucks.

Look to spend near 600+ for an amp of that magnitude and quality,
and depending what type of subs you want and how many woofers, increase that quite a bit and you got yourself over 1000 dollar budget.

People who get these components for show know it isnt cheap and do NOT go into this thinking they can use up a few saved up paychecks from mcdonalds and saving up mommy and daddy's lunchmoney.

All you're going to get with this is a really crap soundsystem you're going to try and crank out every little crappy watt out of it until you blow it out 3 days later and you have nothing.

If you were really serious about this, you'd look into spending $1k on the amp alone. That should tell you something.

imo if you want to compete you should know a little about audio. why are you asking us what you should buy. if your just taking our word for it and dont know what you buying you will get laughed out of a compitition.

Thats exactly what COMPETITION means dude, please dont start getting an attitude, we're just trying to help/correct you.

People who go into competition go in there building their car to be completely for sound, meaning they spend a LOT of money to fix it up, spending in the thousands, 2nd battery, high quality capacitors, high RMS AMPs, etc.

This is all competition stuff, what it sounds like you want is just something that sounds good and to blow out your neighbor driver's windows, not "competition".

In that case, you should reconsider your options, actually in any case, you should reconsider your options.

I'm sorry man but your plan isnt going to work out.

And next time instead of making STATEMENTS, saying that you want to buy competition style 2k+ rms amps and competition type subs for a measly 300-500 dollars, we're going to laugh at you. Instead try asking questions,

What quality subs can i get for a price range of around $300?

how high of an rms/quality amp can i get for around $300?

stuff like that.

You'd be surprised at the amount of cash people drop on systems without flinching.

Number one, there's not a whole lot of "true" 2000w rms amps out there. And the few there are, you can bet cost a damn pretty penny. If u're looking to push that amount of power, you would probably be better off going with two amps...one per sub.

Number two, are you looking to build show vehicle or a sound competition vehicle? There's alot of other options out there to make a car loud rather than just throwing in lots of high wattage equipment. With what you have to spend, you're probably looking at something like a 500w rms amp and maybe a couple lower end subs, or a single mid end sub. IMO, if you're looking to go "clean" both in install and sound wise...invest into a nice single 12" sub and matching amp.

Very nice choice. I actually did that setup in a Altima, ported box...the guy said he wanted it loud, well needless to say, he ended up returning it a week later because it was too loud, put his 2 JL 12w3's back in. His roof was flexing a good 1/2".

Make sure your car's electrical system is up to par...especially if you plan on running a second amp for your other speakers (which you'll probably have to being you'll no longer hear them  ). The JL 1000/1 is a true 1000w amp and I've seen them actually shut running cars off because of the current draw. Upgrading your battery and a high output alternator would really allow that amp to play at it's full potential.

I have a customers car here for a competition/show system. He is spending 15k on labor alone with me and another 6 to 8k in components. That should get him a very good start. I have done car that cost over 50k to the customer. If you want to compete and win you will need to spend the money.
