View Full Version : My Summary For TRack Event # 14

Well I must say I am very happy with the turn out given the shaky weather conditions leading up to the event and during the first half of the day. Typically when it is cloudy, windy, cool, or just rained any event at the track has a much lower turn out but not ours ! :D

We had over 500 spectators (with no advertising other than on TR).

A total of 108 racers even though I capped it at 105 we let a few extra in towards the end.

Almost all of our "special" guests showed. And people like David Wolfe and Job Spetter Jr. (big time GM and Ford tuners) showed with customer cars.

We had a dozen plus sub 9 second rides and quite a few in the low low 8's and 7's ! Nothing better than a lot of variety to look at plus so 7 second 190+ action !

I will have a lot of videos up soon and my brother and Mars will have a ton of photos posted tonight or tomorrow. Check the TRack Events forum over the next few days for updates. If you have pics. / videos to post please put the links or photos in the TRack Events forum.

The track apologizes for the slight mishap at the gate this morning, the traffic from the circle track got mixed with ours and the line got nasty long quick ! But thanks to Billy helping me, help the track thin out the line we got it moving again.

Best of all the event ran smooth on my end and on a side note we were the last cars to run down the old track since they are grinding it up starting tomorrow and putting down a brand new surface !

I am always opened to comments or suggestions so please post them if you have any.

So thanks to everyone that showed given the not so ideal weather conditions.

Look for a announcement on the next event soon ! :D

Damn I am glad this one is over ! :crack:

Had a good time today, even though I was really frustrated with my driving. After finally nailing a 1.88 60' (my second one ever), I missed 2nd

I did, however, get an averaged ET of 103MPH across my runs which let me know the car is about where I expected it to be at 17psi and tediously tuning it the last 6 months.

It was also cool to stop in and talk to Vick Keen, whom I haven't talked to in 16 years (we went to HS together and I've been away from FL).

Everything was good til that mustang blew up the tranny!! Took a looooooong time to clean up the track. But all in all it was a good turnout i think. Alot of nice cars.

Stuff happens when you are running in the 8's. Thankfully it happened right at the end and keep in mind it would have been easier for the track to just call it a day at that point but instead cleaned it up for us and let everyone finish their runs.

Glad you enjoyed yourself.

the only thing i had a problem with was how slow everything went. not the usual TR trackday. was it the pro cars that made everything move so slow. i made 2 runs in 4hrs. both times i sat in short lines that didnt move. i know the mustang at the end the let go was part of the problem but over all everything just moved really slow.

that being said thanks for another track day scott.

Being there the second the track is open for racing helps. I had 4 runs in 1.5 hours.

It was defently an awsome turnout! I enjoyed spectating and watching everyone run. Although it was slightly cold and windy, it was overall a pretty good day for racing. Only thing I didn't care for was the Skittle crew... if I see/hear one more Skittle with the 'snap, crackel, and pop' sound, Im going to:puke: ...but what can you do :dunno: . Great pics aswell, props to those who captured all the great images! Goodtimes none-the-less!

Only thing was, i was at the gate at 11:45 and didnt get in until 12:15, and didnt get to run until 1:15 (i was first car in lanes).

Not complaining, just stating

snap, crackel, and pop i went 11.92 on the stock turbo no n2o....drove it there from naples and drove it home snapping all the way....that was my first TR track day and thought it might not happen but turned out good...i need to get to one where it dosent rain a couple hours before hand so i can get to my 1.6 60's....but with what they had to work with it was great track prep....

I had a great time, the dyno was a great add, my little rex's makes 150whp and I have proof. it's a little now but now I know where I started. I'll be at the next one. I just wish the floridaracing.org guys would have taken a picture of my car, but it looks like they only like neons and million dollar cars. Well better luck next time. See you there, Thanks Again. Not sure what happened because I saw many cars run at least 10+ times. :dunno: Maybe you were in line for the oil down and other routine track prep..

The pro cars do slow it up a little but not that much.

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks.

Thanks for the time put in on the event, it showed. I am looking forward to the track after the new surface is layed down.
Yea....it really helped if you got there early, the Daewoo wagon got in 5 runs & could have been 2-3 more if I really wanted to. Car was running waaaaaaaay to lean....killing the wagons times:(
Time for some tuning;)

BMP can hold a lot more power than Sunshine, especially after they finish grinding down BMP.

I have explored Sunshine a few times and there are some things I like and don't like. The don'ts still outweigh the do's at this time so we will see.

As far as being closer I am sure it is to the masses but since I have little to no outcry for going to Sunshine and our numbers are always great at BMP I think at least the next few will stay the same.

There will be a nice addition to all future TRack Events starting with the next one.

Thanks for the input and I will keep it in mind for down the road.

Had a great time. Only thing that bugged me was the line to get in, but stuff happens. This is the first time track day has been on a Sunday, no?

All of my passes sucked, I should have given up when 2:30 rolled around and I was still under my car trying to troubleshoot stuff. I just said screw it and put my hood on and went back out anyway, I love it.

Thanks Scott!

ahhh see my single cam dyno'd at 148 whp with 125 ft lb of torque over at Coastal granted that those numbers can be disputed due to having to enter them in. Good run.

THANK YOU SCOTT for putting on another event and to Mars and my TR Hubby Mark for the pictures.

If they decide to sell bags of the old track I'd buy one. Its the first track I ever ran on. :D

i dont know when the last time u where at sunshine.but sunshine can hold some power.i've seen a couple 4.20 passes for the pro-mod cars and some 4.60s for the 10.5 boys and the stock suspension cars run in the low 5s all day.the shut down is long enough, the pits are big as hell.the only thing would be the stand size and rest rooms but shit they aint really that bad.i know bmp is tearing up the track so i figured it would be good to have one there while bmp is down.

just my 2 cents though

How about a small swap meet in the future? It seems like there a lot of open space on the Bud side of the track... behind the bleachers

Bradenton will only be down for a week right? i don't think an interim track is neccessary

and a swap meet would be cool, i can't buy anything as i'm poor and no one will have shit for my car but i like to look and as many mustangs and hatches and stuff that are out there i think it'd be a hit
great event, and i'll buy some track, it was my first one too but either way i had a blast and of course i'll go again
just next time maybe make an announcement not to try and cut up the other lane and get pissed when someone doesn't let you in, just my thoughts but thanks for the great day

Scott you put on a great event! It was my first time out to a Tampa Racing event and even though the car broke on the way there I still made a couple of slow passes and enjoyed watching everyone else run. I hope to make it to your next event running on all 8 and give u guys some wheels up in the SS. Cya next time!

Jason

PS-One thing about the line getting in, for the next event it might work better to run two lines in if it gets crowded on for the racers and one for the others. Just a thought since you had a guy out on 64 routing people.

BMP is a great track, both can hold power, I just think you'd have a lot of people complain about 1/8 mile vs. 1/4 if you did it there. I think I'm going to have to build a new drag car in the future, just to make sure Scott knows his place.. ;)
Keep up the good work guys..

Thanks and I am glad you enjoyed it. Great turnout given the crappy weather.

As far as the line issue that is the first time it was ever that bad. The reason for it was because the circle track had a make-up event that morning that the dragstrip knew about so their traffic got mixed in with ours. If we would have know we would have brought people in through the other gate on the other side of the track.
