Bradenton Drags Event (pictures)

We stopped at the Bradenton dragstrip on our way home from the Festival of Speed thing in St Pete today and I took a few pictures.

FWIW, as an old school drag racer, I'm both amused and amazed by drag racing today. Seeing Honda Civic's running 12's just freaks me out. Seeing slicks on the front and front wheel hop freaks me out. Turbo belches and people who don't have a clue how to launch amuse me. ;)

heh, I had my wife committed to a day's worth of car shit so I was milking it for all it was worth!

I can't remember any specifics but I was quite impressed with some of the times being turned. My drag racing days were the early to mid 70's and these cars today are 2 seconds quicker with 1/2 (or less) the displacement. Not bad even if some of y'all do need to learn how to drive! :lol:

Yeah, we were only there for an hour or so and I wasn't motivated to go looking for better camera spots. Next time I'll get up in the bleachers and/or wander the pits for pics.
