I am looking for an Installer to do some work on 04 M3, I am new to Tampa, and can not find a trustworthy shop. Below is the work that needs to be done:
1) Install Bluetooth kit (there is some add'l wiring to a Pioneer N-2)
2) Install PAC SWIX to pioneer
3) Hook up pioneer voice recg to N-2
There are some other small items that need to be done. I would like to find someone who either ownes his shop, or employed by one. I want to stay away from individuals. If you want to do this job, or know someone who can please shoot me an email stedesco@helioswaste.com
There is going to be some "critical thinking" to these items as i would like to have the mic's wired to my OEM assist (I have the pin-out's) along with hooking up the low level inputs for the bluetooth etc...
Thanks in Advance
Shawn

I'm actually not there anymore. But I would still highly recommend taking it there and asking for Rick, tell him John referred you. He's an installer I worked with for almost 2 years there and he's been in the field for well over 10 years. We deal with M3's, M5's, Porsche's, Benz's, etc etc. on a daily basis. He'll definetly take care of you.

Ok, the only problem is I have already brought it there to get the pioneer-ipod interface hooked up (so sorry if it was you) but i had to bring it back because the install was not finished. I always have to deal with a guy named Alex and he never knows what is talking about and it makes me concerned as some of this install requires the installer to re-wire part of the N2 to get the BMW assist working again. Maybe I could talk to the installer instead of Alex???
Thanks Again

Yeah..the salespeople, like most places, don't really have a clue about much more than the products their selling. Ask to talk with Rick, he's an installer. And like I said, tell him John Hambor referred you to him....he'll know me, I use to work with him. I'm not really sure the extent to what you want done, but if it can be safetly done, he'll work with you. The other installer, who is also the install manager, is Todd...he's extremely knowledgable and has been in the field for over 20 years, but doesn't like to bother with much of custom work anymore. You may want to call ahead and find out when Rick will be there for sure.

no individuals eh? you are turning out a large portion of the real skill in car audio. and of course anything that requires custom wiring requires me.
But neways, sounds fun. I'd reccoment AVE in palm harbor ask for jay n tell him dalton sent you and he will magicly pimp your ride like nothing you can imagine.

We are an authorized pioneer dealer, in Oldsmar. We can do what you are looking for. While we are at it, we can also modify your N2 to allow you to watch dvd's while the vehicle is moving. Not that we would recommend that, and its illegal.

Wow, as an actual shop, you've got some balls to advertise that option in this sue-happy world.

^+1. John, where are you at now? Career change or somewhere else (If you don't mind me asking...or feel free to pm if you don't want yourself advertised, or to say fuck off if you don't want to share)

Yeah, probably should have said...'we can modify your AVIC N2 to allow access to certain advanced features while the vehicle is moving. These features should, however, only be accessed by a passenger, and never by the driver. The Driver's attention should always be on the road ahead. This modification might also allow the viewing of DVD videos while moving. This is not recommended, and is illegal in many areas. We cannot condone this activity'
Actually, I have a disclaimer that people sign that says much the same thing.

Alex is a Re-Re. Come to Sound Advice on Fowler, ask for Matt or Jay. We just did a 06 550i, a 06 CTSV and a 06 TSX. Ive got one of the best installers in Florida. The Dale Mabry store sends all their custom jobs to us...
Side note- if you do modify your N2 to play video while driving you can kiss your warranty goodbye.

That's actually in my disclaimer, as well. I'm sure this is Pioneer's stated policy. Not sure I'd hold it as gospel, though. I think there would still be hope for getting it fixed under warranty, at least the first time. I've seen some heavily modified stuff get fixed under warranty. Some of it was mine, back before I had a shop ;)

On the DVD, I'd have to agree. I can't see why I'd want to watch a dVd on a 7" screen, in the front seat of my car at all, much less while driving.
There is some navigation functionality to be gained, however. And these can be performed by a passenger, and would make sense to do while driving.
Its kind of unfortunate what's happened with these things over the years, but understandable at the same time. Hands free phones are required in many places, and I wouldn't be that surprised to see head units that won't even let you change stations or CD's with the vehicle moving come out in the future.
I was next to a lady the other day, who had her little baby in a carrier next to her in the front seat (it was a truck, so there was no back seat). She kept looking over and down at the baby, and attending to it with her 'free' hand. Seems more distracting than a cell phone to me.
Blame it all on the equipment, and never the driver.

The Dale Mabry store sends all their custom jobs to us...
 Since when? I worked over there for 2 years and can't say I recall anyone in the mobile department sending a custom job over there. Now, you guys sending us cars you didn't want to work on is a different story....

Yeah, Karial is the only one to make an issue of anything, however, he would also be the first in line for us to do his client's favors, aka free shit. Don't worry, everyone over there is well aware of how Karial works. Like I said though, I don't recall anyone in the mobile department sending business away. And you mean the Tundra almost 2 years ago by James who no longer even works in Tampa?
