Is it a hard spot to reach or something? Just curious, why the spray stuff as opposed to normal foil-backed deadener.

"Great Stuff" at Home Depot. It's expanding foam, works well in hard to reach areas and only about $5 per can.

It's really not even that good... I've used it before with less than stellar results.

be carefull with the great stuff - it can bend and dent panel, it will set up hard on outside where air hits it fast but takes long to dry inside, and in florida heat the inside stuff will expand and bulge out everything.............. i would not use it- and it stinks the car up

I've used this stuff several times, and I've yet to see or even hear about it bending panels. You must be using it very confined areas?

yea i was tring to stop the flexing of my side panels in my astro - down along the rockers - 164+ db everything shakes, damn i had to use a dozen tubs of liquid nails to hold the roof supports together and fix a sheet of 3/4 mdf to the ceiling.
i got lucky it just expanded up and out the top, and i cut it off
but i saw another installer use it to make a speaker incloser in the door (he hollowed it out to size he wanted after cured) but the door bulged out and had to be punded back in.. funny to see a installer do body work......

Great stuff is pretty good to use as a base for a mold tho..

yeah it is... talk about work saver. Make the mold and finish that sucker inside - with windows open.

Ive seen the expanding happen first hand in an airconditioned shop.. 45 minutes in the sun and the guy was back at the shop. An installer almost took a serious asswhoopin(not me).

I have seen expandable foam destroy quarter panels, trunk lids, and rear decks. They stuff should never be applied to a car's body panels. I have seen great stuff seperate the skelenton from the skin on trunk lids. Using it for a mold is a good idea.

Roll in bed liner would work. But does it not cost as much if not more then products made to use for deadning? I have neverr bought it so I do not know.

WalMart sells stuff like the Dupli-Color bed liner in a spray can, it's a thick rubber-ish material. Goes for less than $10 a can. I haven't actually used it for that application, but I'd assume 3 or 4 coats of the stuff would make a bit of a difference.

im not shure i never really payd attention to the price. i thought it was fairly cheap tho. id just use some rubberized undercoating. thers many products that would do diferant things. best thing to do is use some ingenuity and let us know how it works lol.
