Default This question is for you DogBoneR1.

You seem to be one of the most intelligent ones on the board. I thought this might be a cool experiment, and the only reason I would even consider doing this is because I LOVE the look of the stock exhaust, but I hate the "Sewing machine" sound that it comes with. I have made previous threads before asking how I can keep the stock exhaust look, but get some sound out of it also, and I searched around a little bit, and I found this.

Tell me what you think about it. I know most people are going to say "Just get a slip on" but if at all possible, I won't be out a few bucks, and I will be happy with that "Stock" look that I love so much on the RR.

*Anyone can chime in with their passed experiences or knowledge on this type of "DIY Project"

Lot's of folks have reduced / removed the baffling in the stock pipes, as well as making holes in the end cap to increase the sound.

My buddy did this on his Busa.... it was free and sounded much deeper than stock.

Most intelligent ones LOL

When I had my 600RR I wanted to do the same thing you're looking to do now. Because the pipe is welded and sealed tight, removing the stock baffel is not an option unless you want to go have it cut and rewelded, in which case you might as well buy a slip-on. The point of doing this is to not spend any money, right? LOL

I took a long steel rod with a pointed end, shoved it down the bikes ass until it stopped and went to town with a hammer. Punching multiple holes in the back chamber of the exhaust.

I have a 600RR exhaust laying around if you want it. I'm not going to use it. The guy who's bike I took it off, doesnt want it anymore either. Your welcome to it.

It sounded raspy, and loud. I shortly after went out and bought a Jardine Slip-on.

Do we really have to fight over who uses the back brake or not?
Do you have to argue over stupid pointless shit on the Internet?

I definitely might have to take you up on that offer for the RR exhaust. So I don't have to take the existing exhaust off the bike before I go nuts with a steel rod and hammer upthe bikes ass? Is it possible for metal flakes to fall down the pipe and get into my engine?

the way the pipe bends down and then goes up to the header I HIGHLY doubt anything will make it there. DO you plug your exhaust when you wash your bike? Granted some do but it's virtually impossible to get something into your motor from the exhaust end. when you turn your bike on it'll blow all the crap out anywho.
