View Full Version : ? About Swapping the Deck in my buick
HEy guys, I have a 1999 Buick Lesabre, and bought a new head deck (along with the mounting plate, harness, and antenna adaptor), and I'm ready to install it. The only problem is, I can't figure out where the hell to start! I'm assumming part of the dash needs to come out, but I'm not sure how much, or where to start with taking it out. Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing, or know of a good site that would explain it? Normally I'm pretty good with this shit, but its just a mystery here how I can get this deck out.

Not off the top of my head, but if you post a pic of the dash it'll probably come to me.

I can't remember the specifics of the LeSabre..but if it's like most Buicks, it's gonna be a major PITA. Most Buicks you need to basically take the entire front of the dash off, which means finding a TON of screws. You start by taking out the swivel a/c vents. I can't remember if yours is going to be this same way, so post a quick pic of your dash to refresh my memory.
Can't get a pic up, HOWEVER, I have to take out the A/C vents (They snap out), then remove hte fake wood border (it snaps off), then there's a bunch of screws I found to take the dash plate off around the deck. Problem is, the damn thing still won't come off when I pull all of the screws out. I'm not sure whats still keeping it on...
Heres a generic Buick LeSabre dash of my year. http://ejimscars.com/images/99-lesabre-dash.jpg

if memory serves, there are screws under the wood trim and the entire plastic bezel must come off the dash. then theres just four more screws to the radio.

Yeah, there's more screws...around a good 15 total. Your entire dash bezel needs to come off (around guage cluster, drivers & passenger side...stretches across width of car). There's screws behind the air vents, behind the trim, and on the sides of the dash behind panels (open your doors and pop the panels off on the side of dash.)
