Lightbulb Is it possible?

hi guys. i have a few questions.
first off. i found a very good car that is in great shape. it was in the wreck, but damage is minimal. dealer says that car is export only and that it can not be registerd in US. now i was thinking "Is there a way around it?" i was thinking about following:
buy the car
fix it
register it as a homemade or unique vehicle.
is that possible?

now car is not THAT unique, but it's price is. it sells for at leat 70% more than the asking price. did anyone try to do this or was in similar situation?

You could try getting a salvage title, DMV never even has to look at the car. Then you could go that way.

Ok i've done that couple of times. did you buy the car from an auction or somtin? is the cars title curently certificat of destruction? is that what you mean? In Florida you wount be able to re-register the car, you can go to minesota and register the car as a rebuilt.

As a mater of fact im going there next weekend to do this.

PM' me if thats what it is. if not i still might be able to help you

Not necesarily. it can have any type of damage. If it has certificat of destrucion then the car is old and its not worth registering, or pe repair cost exceeds the value of the car

in order to get a title you need to have the car inspected, so yea, they do look at it.

i didn't buy the car yet. i wanted to check if i could actually use the car before i buy it. car is at the dealers and it is sold as export only. not rebuildable or salvage, but export only.
from my estimate it has around 1500$ in damages - at shop; less if i do it myself.

so what are you saying? that i can take car that can not be titled in us (what dealer says) to min. and register it there?

it all depends on the title the seller has if it is export only chances are it is not drivable under DOT standards and can only be sold in the us parts or sold overseas where the DOT standards might be different my prelude was salvage rebuildable titile they din't even see the car make sure you check before ou spend you hard earned cash and get screwed
