Hey guys,

My church has decided to set up a car show for Sunday, March 5, so I figured this could be a good time to get a bunch of local cars together. You guys and any of your friends are all welcome to be in the show (imports, domestics, anybody). A few of us there are car guys so we were able to make it an official event and use the church parking lot/field for free... so registration is free, too. Also, while we are still working out details, there will be prizes, I just don't know what they are or what they're for, yet. Oh, and it will be in the early afternoon, say 12:30pm or so (more details below). I'll get more details on prizes and such and scan in the flyer soon. BTW, the church is very near Raymond James Stadium.

Originally, it wasn't planned to be a big show... the organizer is shooting for 50 cars... but I'd love to get a bunch of nice cars together and far surpass that number, plus it's a good excuse to show off your car and you might even win something.

Oh, and here's the rest of the time/location info off of the flyer:

Sunday, March 5, 2006
12:30-4:00pm
Christ Community Church
6206 N. Himes Avenue
Tampa, FL 33614

Registration from 11:30-12:30

EDIT: Flyer is now attached

So, let me know if you have any questions or if you're interested.

Thanks guys. Hope you can come.

Sounds great everybody.

I'll talk to the official organizer soon and figure out how this thing's going to be set up exactly and get back to you.

Like I said, several of the details are still being worked out, so if you guys have any suggestions for the format/classes and such, I'll be glad to pass them along to the organizer.

Alright, I'll let you know when I hear more.

class suggestions

Best in show
Best domestic
Best import
Best bike (if enough show)
Best audio/video set up
Best Engine

just to make it simple, that and mabye change things up a little bit if there are like a TON of cars there but i think those would be goo classes for a smaller type of show

Yeah, that's definately along the lines of what I was thinking. We really have no clue how many people will be there, yet, but that seems like a good number of categories for a 50-100 car show. Because the organizer has some older domestics, and there will certainly be a decent amount of late-models, he may want to add "Best Classic Car" or something along those lines, but this list looks pretty good.

Also, what do you guys think about Judging? Do we have judges or a vote by all those attending? I'm leaning towards a vote or a wide range of judges (maybe one who drives a classic/import/domestic/etc) because I would feel bad if we knew the judges and one of the people who helped set up the show actually won... Not that my cars would win, because they wouldn't :) . But, I'd also feel bad if the organizer's car (a pristine '65 GTO convertible) didn't win if it deserved to just because the judges felt like they shouldn't pick him... know what I mean?

Anyway, so any suggestions on Judging/voting or classes or anything else are welcome.

Again, I'll run this stuff by the organizer and I'll let you all know when anything's decided.

have judges.....if u have the spectators judging it can be biased

Yeah, I guess that's true, too. Whoever is known by the most spectators is likely to win whether they deserve it or not.

just a though but why not have the compeditors from the classes vote on a different class, like have the domestic guys vote on best import, poeple who arent entered in the engine category vote on the engine mods stuff, etc. just make people specify what class they are in and only allow them to enter one class...like i said just a thought, like me for example i would be entering best sounds system w.c i dont have other stuff done to my car so i could vote for people in the other classes..get what i mean.

People dunno what everything, if I'm at a show judging audio, I got no clue. If i'm judging body i know everything i'm a bodyman. that wouldn't work well. Having someone knows about systems judge body isn't gonna fly.

Hey guys,

Sorry I haven't replied for a while... been really busy with a couple engineering projects. Anyway, I talked to the guy that's heading this thing up and he just wants the show to be a time where everyone can hang out and check out everyone else's cars. For a few different reasons, he's not into the whole classes/judging thing. Part of it, I'm sure, is that it's kinda difficult to set up, as we can see from this thread :) ... and part of it is that we want this to be free, and trophy's are not free :D .

So, sorry guys, if that's what you were counting on, but we'd still love to get a bunch of guys out there. There are supposed to still be a few little prizes and stuff, but mostly it's just a time for everyone to get together, talk cars, and check out everyone else's masterpeice/work-in-progress.

So, it's only a week away now, I hope to see some of you there.

Oh, 2 more things, the service is @ from 11:00 to 12:00, for those that are interested... and I will post the flyer to my original post.

Thanks guys. Again, hope to see you there.
