Well I've seen previous pictures and I don't like it but I guess I'm going to have to look at this link when I get home from work. I clicked on it here and it says "You've been banned from this site" so I'm assuming someone here must have really pissed off someone there and the whole IP has been banned but anywho. If it looks anything like the previous pics I've seen it's horrible god awful and should never adorn a SRT-4 badge ever, and everyone I ever see with that badge I will go up and deface the srt-4 badge on a calibe j/k I wouldn't go to jail for something stupid like that but you get my drift. So in conclusion Yeah It SUCKS

now now, it doesnt look THAT bad, I for one would never buy it, but then I like coupes, its really no worse than a Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe, but I think dodge is in for a rude awakening when the sales dont even come close to matching the neon

That car is the biggest piece of shit design I have ever seen. WTF were the designers doing when they thought of that? Lines of Coke? Seriously, wtf. I would rather drive a pt cruiser (no offense mitch :P ) POS is probably aerodynamicaly limited to 100mph lol

Yea but if they come out with a 300 hp awd car they arent going to charge 22k for it, its gonna be closer to 30k, which for 30k my horizons have broadended considerably and why the fuck would i buy a toyota matrix with 300 hp.

Josiah
02-11-2006, 01:06 PM
yeah, it may be ugly but you'll be the one saying "its still a caliber" as it dusts you...he he, well, if it had 300HP anyway, I wont buy one....I may buy an engine though

You guys are crazy!! I've seen the car in person, believe me the pictures do this car no justice. I've seen the tricked out rallye version of that car and it looks bad ass. That new cvt tranny in it is gonna be awesome, 1 gear!!! All I have to say is put some nitrous to it and watch it go, instant power! Don't let the pictures take away from the car, it loooks 10 times better in person, and will actually probably quicker than the Neon SRT-4. The 1970 charger daytona was by far one of the ugliest things ever to be assembled, but was a beast and dominated all.

I don't think it looks bad, sorta like a smaller Durango I guess :dunno:

AWD, 6-speed, 2.4L Turbo and I think it would be fun.

But in the end it will still be a Caliber

02-11-2006, 09:26 PM
Yep smaller Durango, now how the fuck is that a SRT-4??
I think it is fugly.

More and more I am debating buying one of those for my 3rd tubo Dodge. Would make a nice family grocery getter :D

Dodge has always made turbo cars that people love to hate. I don't see that changing anytime soon :)

Im just not a big fan of hatches, i mean yea they got rid of the neon thing, which they needed to do, because noone wants to be ascociated with neon, but it really does look like a vibe, and noone liked that car, fast or not. I think the srt looks great one of the reasons i bought it, but this one will need to be dropped immediately and i dunno big fmic, i cant really tell u i just know i dont like how it looks, and as far as dusting me, right..... after he gets done spinnning and hes 2 cars behind on those skinny ass tires he will think about dusting me.

Josiah
02-13-2006, 09:08 PM
heh, skinny tires dont matter as much with AWD, I perosnally want this caliber SRT to come out...I want the AWD 6 speed tranny to put in my 98! and even if it wasnt AWD, LONG LIVE THE TURBO DODGE! in whatever form it may take...caravan, spirit, lebaron, neon, caliber...omni, charger, lancer, daytona, new yorker, the tradition is a long one, after all, it cant be any worse than the turbo caravan(I actually want one of those, nice sleeper)

Hey it pays to have good credit, and a good paying job.

Josiah
02-15-2006, 05:38 PM
hey now, I'm partial to first gen eclipses(92 and 93 models in particular) and while the GSX is of course the way to go, the GS still has better looking side skirts IMO, but anyway, I dont suppose the caliber will be that bad, but for for what its going to cost I would rather have a Mustang GT, or the stripped down EVO, heck I saw a guy pick up a new caliber on neons.org, ended up paying 22k, this is the non SRT/non R/T, base auto....had a lot of options I'm sure, but 22K are you nuts?

Lets not get crazy now, that thing would dust a civic in second gear, either way its gonna be too much for me to want to spend on a hatchback but if they do come out with an awd version I may change my tune.

Funny you say that. Not everyone has good credit and some who do rather not fall in a hole paying off a car for 3-6 years. BTW, it is ugly and I rather get a Neon SRT-4 which is currently what I'm shopping for ;)... don't think your special because you drive a new vehicle and have good credit and a good job. A lot of us do have good credit and a good job... doesn't mean we have to fall into a hole right away and buy a "NEW" car. For someone who has everything "good" you sure need to get back to school and learn how to write and spell. It should of said: "This is coming from a guy who drives a 92 eclipse." Don't get cocky... :D

Like I stated, it's an ugly car. Seems like a lot of people agree. That engine bay is disgusting and so is the rest of the car.

Josiah
02-16-2006, 10:24 PM
nothing disgusting about the engine bay...heh, I want a "world" 2.4 already, I am hoping it will have the same bolt pattern as the current neon 2.4/2.0(1.8 for the export neon/mini cooper) then I would be able to swap it into my 98, variable valve timing would be nice...in any case, the first step for an aftermarket for that engine is getting the caliber into production(I want an aftermarket mainly because I want oversize head gaskets more than anything else, because of course it doesnt come stock with forged pistons either) I want a built world 2.4 already...

I kid you not, I saw a new Caliber driving around Orlando the other day. I've heard that sometimes rental companies in key markets get new cars early. Dealers should be getting SE/SXT/RT models sometime soon. I wouldn't be too suprised if we see some Caliber SRT-4's sometime in Fall.

Yes they show up at rental companys before the dealer. When the PT's came out, we rented one for 2 weeks to put in front of the dealer, and something for customers to drive. We sold a lot of PT's by having that rental car out front.

just incase anyone wants to see this

"Overview
The Caliber is an all-new model from Dodge that redefines the entry level sedan. Introduced in concept form at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, the Caliber has been designed as a world car to be sold in more than 100 countries throughout the world.

“Dodge Caliber is pure Dodge, and its bold styling separates it in the crowded compact car segment,” said Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President — Design, Chrysler Group. “Caliber will allow owners to make a statement by driving a vehicle unlike anything else offered. It will definitely stand out on the road,” Creed added.

The Caliber is by most definitions a crossover SUV with the classic 2-box proportions of a sport-ute. However, the roof peaks just over the driver and slopes downward towards the rear hatch, giving the Caliber a sleek look. The 5-door hatchback Caliber is expected to be the basis for a number of new cars coming from the Chrysler group over the next several years.

Three different engines will be available at launch - the 1.8-liter, 148-horsepower engine is standard on the SE and SXT; the 2.0-liter, 158-horsepower engine is optional on the SE and SXT; and the 2.4-liter, 172-horsepower engine is standard on the R/T. Later in the year, the Caliber SRT4 will arrive boasting 300 horsepower from its turbocharged engine.

Caliber will also feature Chrysler's first continuously-variable transmisson (CVT), designed to increase performance as well as fuel efficiency. Another first for Caliber will be its electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system. The system works on demand, driving only the front wheels until power to the rear wheels is needed, which optimizes fuel economy. All-wheel drive will initially be available on the Caliber R/T. Caliber will be available with a diesel powerplant in Europe, but no decision has been made regarding availability in the U.S." msn autos

Besides the weight and and ugly rear, i think it's a nice car.
