Does anyone know how much power/tq a 79 monte puts out? Also, do you know what tranny/rearend is in it and what gears are stuck in there? It has the factory 305 in it.
Thanks, Joe

if its a 305 your looking at like 170hp rear end is a 10 bolt and the rear gear is probley a 2.73 or a 3.23

Sweet sounds good to me. I'll pop some 3.73's in the rearend:grin: And from what i understand 10 Bolts can handle some power right?

10 bolt just descibes the bolt pattern. Some 10 bolts are 7.5", 8.2", and even 8.5". I don't have any idea what size ring they put in the '79. Even with 3.73's, that 305 is gonna be a turd. Spend the money on a crate 350 instead.

Why spend money on a crate 350 when i have a vortec 350 in the garage with 48k miles on it:grin:

it's not a dumb thing to mod a 305, just as long as you plan on carrying all the mods over to your new engine
