Anyone know exactly where we're going to be set up this weekend at GVizzle? I've got a friend coming out to watch/ride and I'd like to be able to give him directions. :-)

01/24/06 Gainesville Update The surface is not "Better" than the track. Sorry for the misinformation. It does however allow for a LOT more creativity. Stay in touch we'll try to get a course map.

01/12/06 Notice The Gainesville event on Feb 5th will be held in the parking lot, NOT the track. Sources involved say that the parking lot surface is even better than the track.

Okay, let me clarify my question...

Where, exactly in the GIR facility are we going to be set up? The only parking lot area I've seen isn't anywhere near big enough for an autocross, so I'd like to know which entrance to use, and where to go once I get inside. :-)

Big piece of asphalt in the middle. Doesn't look like the road course was built yet. The photo says 1999.

People are tired of running the same course every time.

The real answer is that there is some archery club that wil be too close for us to safely use the road course section.

It is true however that we're getting a little bored with the same ol G'ville course.

I guess the area that we'll be using was used for the autocross portion of the last GRM challenge. We'll see how it goes.

Bock has already been on site to scout out locations. Jim will be out there Saturday to finalize the location. It will most likely be on the portion of concrete where we ran the $2005 GRM Challenge, although Bock mentioned that there's another nice area further down the strip that could also be used. I haven't been out there since the Challenge, so I can't say with any confidence yet. Basically, you'll drive into the gated/fenced off portion of the drag strip area. We will hopefully have an early gate person there ASAP and will be able to guide you or your friends to where they need to be. :)

I for one am VERY excited about being able to use this area instead of the road course.

Damn. How sweet would it be if they let us use the drag strip as a starting line? Stage using the tree... Use the first 300 ft of the drag strip as part of the course, heh.

Haha...no... it'll be in the parking lot/paddock area for the drag strip.
