good things are they get decent gas mileage, they are nice, they can be made quick easily. the rear ends hate life.

so true on the rear end, but the car is an auto so the rear should be ok, its those 6spd you got to watch out for, confusios once said:
the t56 is to the rear end as a sledge hammer is to a house of cards

pretty much +1
the rear is fine, even with a 6sp as long as you don't put some race clutch in it and/or put it on tires....
i don't think you can kill a stock 3.42 with a stockish car on street tires....... god knows I've tried...lol

I busted mine all to hell on street tires...... but that was after a year of 700ft lbs of TQ on DRs ;)

Are you buying it to leave it stock or to mod it? You really can't go wrong either way. The only complaints I have about the LS1 f-bodies are the merely average handling and interior. If you're not looking for a corner-carver with a Lexus interior, no problems.
*edit* Oh, and they're a bit heavy for my taste. But that's really not a problem with the car, it's just par for the course.
