Every time I've been out there's been at least one or two cars in the 11's and a few in the 12's. I keep hoping I'll catch a night of pure rice to claim fastest car- I'm never going to mod this thing past low 12's.
I kinda like it though. I've put buslengths on cars that should've beaten me simply because AWD does well with bad track prep. :D When I look back after the 1-2 shift, and they're still spinning their way past the tree, I can feel fairly confident they're not going to catch up.
I also enjoy talking to ricers who come up to look at my car in awe that I ran a high 12. When they ask me what I have done to it, I start on a long list of meaningless mods and ghetto-rigging "relocated the battery down to that crossmember there, see how it's held in place with zip ties? Got these 195/70 tires for 50 bucks, wal mart wheel covers to spiff the car up a bit. Umm, K&N filter, boost gauge, do you see that shift knob? It came out of a mazda 626 in the junkyard- cost me 99 cents!" After a while extolling the virtues of the manual seatbelts I found in a Suzuki Esteem they seem to lose interest and go away, hopefully very upset that a car as shitty as mine is 3 seconds faster than their car.
