SE-R Spec-V vs. 280Z Turbo

First off I wanna say I LOVE the 280Z's. Such a hot car all around and the guy I raced was super clean which made it even better to look at.

At any rate I am driving home on Tampa road coming from a SE-R meet in St. Pete on Friday night when I see this nice Gold 280Z Turbo. I didn't instigate anything when I first saw him due to me just checking out his whip. At any rate we get caught at the light right in front of the Walmart grocery store. From a dig I put about 2 cars on him and from about a 45mph roll or so I only put about a car on him.

We pulled into my complex and chatted for a bit and he checked out the swap.

He stated he was bogging down pretty bad. He also stated his car runs 12.9's which is where I'm at currently without nitrous so I would assume the outcome is accurate with him bogging a little.

At any rate really cool guy and very nice car. Good run.

The car will go faster than 12.9.. If you run slicks on it, it should go 12.70's @ 105.. I pulled a 12.9 @ 105 cutting a 1.9 60ft time. You should get low 1.8's on 24.5x8.5's

Good run :D From a dig I really didn't launch hard and still managed to spin all of second gear. The car was bogging and hitting boost cut a few times with boost jumping around. You have a very stout car. My car still needs tweaking and a few things changed around.

Yeah my car is having it's good and bad days... I have two bad belts which are so bad now that the car won't even idle at a light so needless to say today my cars brand new starter got a work out. Tomorrow I hope to get the belts changed and replace the fried spark plugs and hopefully that will fix my problems.

But yeah man awesome runs and badass car.

The main accesory belt. The coolant hose was not put on very well and it was dripping coolant onto the belt. When I took the belt off it had stretched to the point I couldn't tighten it down anymore (which is a pain in the ass let me tell you!) and was a 5 rib belt and not a 6 rib. I was thinking this was throwing off my idle a bit but thats not the issue now that it is fixed and has been taking care of.

My idle is still very rough at times, stalls out ALL the time especially in stop and go traffic, and from 3000-3500rpms it hesitates like someone is sticking a potato in the exhaust. I can't figure it out for the life of me. I'm trying all the typical crap but I still can't figure it out. I've tried calling you to try and trouble shoot but you never answer. ;)

Sorry about the coolant line.. it was a tight squeeze, and I didn't realize it wasn't on tight enough. Did you try a new MAF sensor? That might be the hesitation issue. Or, it might be the fuel pump fixing to take a dump.

I've been sick with a bad sore throat, so I haven't been able to chat on the phone.

Yeah I need to upgrade my fuel pump and get a new MAF sensor. Thats my main problems.

With spray I have to have the pump. Without I'm fine. But my MAF is fried which is why I've been running like ass.

Yeah I will probably be out at one of the track days... I go out to Sunshine every now and again to goof off.

I have a few things I want to pick up before I go back to the 1/4... Mainly slicks and Fuel pump.

A few guys saw it the other day at the Hillsborough Sonics.
