Got this for christmas from my Mother-in-law and just finished it tonight...just wanted to share...

Holy giant hole in the headliner. Better hope nothing goes wrong with the unit, else youd have to replace it with something the same or bigger. Looks good though.

Yea i was a little nervous cutting that out...but I looked around and the Panasonic unit is one of the best out.

did you put a piece of hardboard to brace it on the inside?

NO...it's screwed right into this bracket in the roof

just the headliner...its the firdt one i've installed...it wasn't bad at all.

thats awesome you got the hole just right with that bracket - but im assuming the hole is dead center and maybe some models came with a console there :p

Ive always been fearfull of punching screws through the roof and not being able to modify the flip down later so I always use a 1/2" hardboard liquid nailed to the roof under the headliner. It also gives a lot more durability in the long run.

well some of the Ody's came with actuall factory installed screens but i am not sure where they were placed. But iI was a risk taker and it worked out...thanks for the rep points.

A new headliner isn't exactly a high dollar item...

The few I've replaced have been around $300 from the dealership....I don't know about you, but that's a nice chunk of change to me. And install on a vehicle that size is a major PITA, dealerships can charge well over $400 for this alone.
