why would you use kenwood speakers??? they suck... the head units are ok but everything else for them sucks. Get something better than kenwood, alpine type s isn't too expensive and sound better than anything i ever heard from kenwood, or maybe even the type r speakers... i'm not a big fan of alpine but i would take them any day over anything from kenwood.
an i agree with the dynamat... do the floor all the panels maybe inside the hood. do as much as you can.

First of all ass nugget, you weren't there when they hooked up the db meter to my car, and onayone who's ever sat in my car and they ask how loud and I tell them will never think other wise. Secondly you don't even know what I've got! and you idiot retard 2 15's can out pound one 18 if you've got it setup right faggot. So I'll tell ya what go educate yourself before you make another ignorant remark, and by the way please be quiet adults are talking here. Ask permissoin to speak if you wanna talk again

I'll venture to say you couldn't even sit in a car doing 160dBs.

So what exactly are you running to hit 160dBs? That's a tough number to hit...possible, but unlikely...especially considering the suggestions you made earlier. Not to mention, those Magnums don't have a whole heck of a lot of trunk space.

2 Kicker L7 15's, ported box, MTX 1501D monoblock, the biggest dry cell battery you can find, Kenwood KVT 715. Dragg rated at 159.9 db's, and yes that's correct no one can sit in my car they all either get out or plug their ears.

My Thread,
I Did Sit In Your Car - It Was Loud With A Nice Note -but No-way 160 Db
It Is Impossible Mathematically For 2 15's To Be That Loud.
And I And Not Talking Crap -(master Mecp) Competed With 16 12's And Over 1,000 Watts Rated (20,000 Watts Actual) = 164.4 At The Spring Break Nats..
Placement Of Meter & There Are Many Different Setting On The Meter And If Was Not Set Correctly It Would Regester Louder,

one word - depth, the deeper the bass the higher a meeter goes.
djgizmo
12-25-2005, 11:22 PM
lol, that was more than a word. and SPL does not always increase by "deepening the bass" (lowering the frequencies). SPL = Sound Pressure Level, not bass frequency level. Depending on how well a speaker is designed for a frequency range, and how well the enclosure is made depends how which frequency gets more SPL.
I've heard systems where the bass at 62hz is louder than some at 40hz due to the amount of much more energy needed to push a speaker at a lower frequency.

No offense, but if it were that easy, everyone would be hitting 160dBs. I believe you might have seen "160dBs" on the meter...but that meter was either majorly fucked up or sitting directly in front of your port.

Look I'm gonna end with this, this dude asked questions, about what to put in his car, gave my advice and opinions vary, then some goober decided to call me out with even educating himself. I replied, then everyone decideds to turn the guns on me. All I know is that depending on what vehicle you put anything in makes up one major category, the other has to do with how you're setup, a crappy head unit or etc. and the whole thing will sound like crap. Secondly the meter was sitting in my backseat, it read 154 first try, second time it got 156.5, 3rd time adjusdted a few things found the right song and 159.9. In response to some other comments I had 2 L7 10's in my reg cab truck and banged 121 it was loud as shit, airspace has a lot do with it and they way I had my box made and designed for my car maximize's all space in my hatch. So I'm gonna leave it at that, believe if you wanna believe or don't, doesn't really matter to me. Again sorry if your thread got taken why off subject. In refrence to the original thread whatever head unit you get, get matching brand speakers to replace factory ones cause they're designed to sound the best on the corrilating brand
