btw, the nice new paint trucks are just pics i found online to give me an idea of what i might do when its painted.

im buying this truck from my gf's cousin, he hasnt dug the title out yet so unsure of the exact year on it. its a 64-66 c10 short bed fleet side. now, im not new to modding cars at all as you can tell you you look at the cars in my sig, however i am new to trucks and domestis in general. im not planning anything crazy with this truck, just want to keep it clean and have a lil somthin under the hood. until i get a chance to grab the numbers off the engine to find out if its origonal or not i wont decide for sure what ill do in the power department. if it isnt origonal i was thinking a 396 and th400 would be a nice motor/trans combo for power and towing ability. also, it is 4 wheel drum, and id like to convert the front to disc. does anyone know what year truck i would need the parts from to converti it?

also, yes, i know its got rust and needs fixed(i like actually working on cars, so this gives me something to do that i like. fixing it myself is the majority of the fun). other then above the windsheild and the dash(the worst spots) it is very very solid and straight(doesnt apear to have ever been wrecked other then a dent on the front bumper). i plan to gut the cab and take care of all the rust on the floor which isnt that bad yet and use some por15 to stop it from coming back. main thing im worried about is the dash, does anyone know if it unbolts? or am i gonna be drilling out spot welds? also, anyone seen a truck like this in any boneyards with a good dash i can go grab? anyway, i guess thats about it. guy im getting it from already has new wod for the bed, it runs and drives, though needs the engine tuned up big time and alot of tlc to clean it up. also, i already have an lmc catalog to order any body panels and trim i need, however they dont have the dash, so thats why i asked about it.

help? coments? critisim?
william

Good luck. Don't know much about that body style. It's not a 67 though as 67-72 is my specialty.

ok, my bad. i was looking up online and saw a 68 that was a diff body style, i ASSumed it was a change in 68. my mistake. lol. anyhow, i need to get off my but and jack it up and get the number off the block so i can see what engine is in it. all i know right now is small block v8 with a 2 barrel stock intake and an adaptor to fit the edelbrock 4 barrel. also, the trans is a powerglyde and appears to be stock. anyone know where the plate is on a powerglyde? same place as a th400 by chance? i know where thats at as im putting a built th375 in my 84 supra behind a 3.0 turbo straight 6(7mgte for the guys that know anything about the oldschool supras)

It lokks like you have a 64 or 65 there, i found this google

Chevrolet pickups were given a restyled grille for 1964. It's a little difficult to detect in this photo but its top grille bar has the Chevrolet name displayed in black block letters. This grille continued through 1966. One has to distinguish between model years by the location of the model numberplate seen here on the lower section of the front fenders. A 1964 model C1534 half-ton Fleetside pickups is shown. (Photo: AAMA)

Did anyone else ever see this on "Trucks!" on Spike TV?

It had a 572 with NOS and straight pipes.

It was pusing close to 1049HP!

well, mine has a emblem that says custom on the cab right behind the door windows, so i guess since it doesnt have the emblem on the fender prolly a 65 or 66. i need to just go back over there with a jack and jack it up to get the numbers off the trans and motor and write down the vin while im at it. that will tell me all i need to know to get started on it. anyway, its my first truck and should be a fun experience fixing it up. still have no clue what disc brakes fit the front. ive heard the early 70's chevy c10 disc setup fits, but dont know, guess i need to by them from the bone yard and check it out. if its all origonal ill keep the drums put up to put back later. too bad it doesnt have the origonal carb anymore. im sure i can find all the stuff its missing if by some miracle it is numbers matching. not really worht anything now even if restored, but by the time im old it should be. hehehehe

I love that bodystyle. Its too bad the 67-72s took away from its popularity.

i love it too, thats why i wanted it. to me the 67-72 looks too much like the 72+ and are a dime a dozen it seems. you dont see many of this style around where i live. ive only seen 1 other 1 and it had a big square work box on the back. and it was for sale.

yes, but it is not for sale. im fixing it up for myself. if you look at the pics i got pics of the rust on it thats bad. other then that theres just a couple lile rust spots like where the mirrors used to be mountd lower on the door, and one spot on the passenger fender. other then that rock solid and no dents except 1 in the side of the hood. dont know how it could have happened but ill pull it out.

Yeah I should have reworded it, i wasnt wanting to but it. I was just curious about the body. I didnt know if there were any out there that are in good condition anymore

well, i know of one for sale, but it doesnt have a stock bed, though lmc truck sells all the panels for fleet side or step side brand new as well as the wood boards for the bed as well. if youd like me to ill drive by there and get the phone number. the cab is black, looks pretty straight from the road.

Wow, you need to borrow my glasses. They look nothing alike at all. 73-87 look like rolling square bricks. And try finding a 69-72 Blazer around here and get back to me. I'm sure you wont.

Sorry about that. Rant over. :tard:

ok, from what i just found online, it appears to be a 1974 small block 400. made in tonawanda, may 15th. says lt4 175hp 2bbl carb. so looks like i got a good starting point for some power, a 400cube mouse motor. hehehe. even though it isnt origonal, i can live with this. btw, the nubers on the block are T0515CSU
