Has anyone built a bellhousing out of plate steel? any pointers?

I've seen people make scatter shields. But a bellhousing would be some mad fad work. Plus they have to be centered exact. That would be a lot of work.

I was thinking about static mounting the gear box to the chasis to where it can't move up, down, side to side, or roll. Slide the motor onto the input shaft and mount that statically and then go to town. Or I'll make a jig for the factory bellhousing and modify the jig to fit the new motor. I'll figure it out when I have it all sitting in front of me. I have about 4 gear boxes laying around and a couple oe blocks I can use for a jig then mock up a faux firewall and mount the new motor to the jig. Then make the motor mounts and bellhousing.
