View Full Version : Any opinions on the Hahn Racecraft 16G and 20G

I haven't been on SRT forums in awhile and I see that Hahn is making a couple turbo kits, the 16G and 20G. Look pretty nice, ceramic coated and warranty for about $1700 and then you can either go 750's and SAFC or their port-fueler thing. Seems like a viable alternative, just looking for other opinions.

In a perfect world I could just buy Stage 3 and be done with it but thats not the case. Thanks.

Rob

I was thinking about a custom 20g setup..I really like the concept of the port-fueler,but it uses "8" injectors or "6" right?..IT's a good deal in my opinion.

As I understood it it is essentially 4 extra injectors that are used in WOT circumstances and otherwise they sit idle. They have some basic maps and the flow is tune-able. they also sell a map-clamp of sorts...but I think a 20g setup with 750's Walbro 255 and an SAFC would work well. I am stage 2 and I hear the 20g runs well with that (330ish)

Stage 3R......and be done with it save for a new heavier duty clutch

Well not everybody has the 3700 lying around for stage 3, I mean look at how many people are spraying their cars versus a big turbo to begin with...IMO this Hahn is a viable alternative and the portfueler reduces the amount of tuning necessary which is another plus.

Spray it or custom 50trim or similar ..

I'll be doinG GT3076R , Tial 44mm , CMS Manifold & DP , 780's , return line , AFC

3R is over rated

definetly stage 3, it has alot of pontential....if getting that is an issue shoot for a 50trim setup....

The efficiency of a 50 trim is only slightly better based on the maps and the 20g is over $500 less with ceramic coating and a full warranty (but you do have to buy an exhaust manifold gasket). I want to see what numbers people are putting down with them b/c I'm only looking to get around 400ish.

That will be a badass ride hopefully you have a clutch and some DSS axles

Jap

Why would I have DSS axles ... Warren broke them the first time he alunched with the DAB on 3 ...

I'll have stockers and i'll be slipping the clutch out of the hole not dumping it off a 2-step ...

I do have a CM Stage 4 though :)

Damn thats about a grand down the hole, how do you like the stage 4...I heard on SRT forums a couple companies will be offering clutches for our car starting in Jan besides clutchmasters and centerforce

I got a light flywheel and the clutch for 700 ...

I've got a few hook-ups , drives nice though its somewhat harsh but its getting more liveable ...

well, I for one have a Hahn 20g, I love it...there are actually three trims of 20g that hahn sells, even the smallest(the one I have) is good for 400WHP, mine has always fully spooled around 3500RPM....with multiple boost leak problems(which were my fault)...as far as fueling is concerned...the SAFC sucks, dont get it...ever for any reason...Portfueler is a neat Idea...but you have to add all kinds of hardware to use it(not to mention 4 more injectors) I myself use MegaSquirt...same cost as a SAFC and can do 10 times more than the portfueler...not any more difficult to install with fuel only control than a SAFC either(notice I say fuel only...to run spark as well from megasquirt(I let the stock computer control my spark for a long time before taking control of it too) you would have to convert to EDIS-4, unless the Megasquirt people have made SRT code yet...which they may have...but EDIS works fine for me)

Well Josiah I think you know a shitload more about Neons than alot of other people on here myself included, Megasquirt is the shit if you know how to control it...So what are you're takes on the 20g's from Hahn versus the 50 trim from AGP???

boosted, selling drugs for parts is bad.

Josiah

I think its roughly the same as the 2nd stage hahn 20g(the medium unit) but considering I picked up my turbo/manifold kit from modern performance for $800, the $1650 for the AGP kit is a bit pricey...though it does come with a downpipe(which you can make yourself for a total of $70 or so)...in other words, I prefer hahn because I was willing to do more work and get a significant discount because of it...all the extra stuff can be purchased from hahn seperately if you dont like to do work though...in the end the two are about the same, matter of preference

the portfueler works great.......no problem building boost with the help of four more injectors

i have to disagree !!!!!!! all stock components(intercooler,airbox,exhaust,intake,tb,et c,etc) and stg3 and run 12.1's ?????? and w/a 35shot and go 11.8's @120+,,,,, AND NO TUNING !!!!! how can you go wrong with stg3 ???????

+1....as much as i like the GT3071.....one cant argue with the hundreds of thousands of miles and $$ that went into researching/developing S3r. Dial in one of the 4 levels of sanity or lack thereof.....and you are off knowing with certainty the car will perform exactly as advertized time and time again...without tuning.

What is the deal with oil AND water cooled, if I remember correctly our stocker is oil and water cooled but the AGP kit is only oil cooled, could this cause any issues?

Jap
12-24-2005, 12:43 AM
All i'm saying is I have all that stock stuff too ..

I have less than half the money that 3R costs and I run better than 11.8 with a 3R on a 35 shot ..

Josiah
12-28-2005, 07:21 PM
I know I can add water cooling any time I want to my 20g....but I dont run insane EGTs yet so its not yet a requirement(well, according to maximum boost anyway) the real reason though is I am just too damn lazy to try routing cooling lines until I have a weekend to spare messing with nonessentials

CobraSpdRH
12-28-2005, 11:04 PM
What are good egt's? I have a zeitronix with an EGT sensor so I can monitor mine, just not sure what is good and what is frying piston rings lol

Josiah
12-29-2005, 05:43 PM
well, as far as good EGTs...I consider anything under 1600-1700 at full boost good...but I am less worried about frying piston rings than I am about baking the oil in my turbo and fucking it up, but frequent(2000 mile) oil changes help with that too, removing any oil particles that are heat damaged before they can coke the bearings in the turbo
