"Cheap fiberglass work" Isn't that like an oxymoron or something?

LOL, the moral of the story is, anyone who does "cheap" fiberglass work will not go "good" fiberglass work
Anyone who can do "Good" pro fiberglass work will definitely not do it cheap.
Not to mention, depending on your idea of cheap, the fiberglass & resin will tally up to at least $30 for even a small job.

if you have the rite tools and enough practice to the point where you can fiberglass with minimal filling and sanding you can cut down material and labor costs. actually taking it to someone who dosent know what there doing would probly end up costing more than having it professionally done.

supplys you will need. fiberglass resin and matt, some sorta thin strechy fabric(fleese works good), mdf, numatic staple gun(my prefrance), a router, a couple shitty paint brushes, short hair fiberglass filler, 40,80,180 grit sand paper (and up if you want to paint it), plastic filler, possible a peice of 1/8 inch panel board so you dont have to ruin your origional package tray, and also suplys to cover it with(flexi forurm carpet, vinyl, paint). if you are covering it you will need a glue gun and contact cement, or if your painting it you will need a paint gun. im shure theres somthin i missed in there also, point is that if you want it to look rite(not like you carved it out of a cement block) supplys will run somewhere around $100 at least. if i were in town i could do it for you for $150ish because i have alot of the suppleys layin around but i dunno if you wanna wait till march

Spray paint works fine with some skill. And with the small size of that job you dont need MDF or particle board or a staple gun. Since its in a panel I would assume he needs stock looking non glossed or semigloss paint.

you still gotta make a mounting ring, or in this case a rectangle for mounting the lcd. thats what the mdf is for. the 1/8IN PANEL board is to make a new package tray for a base to staple the fleese to and also mount the mdf mounts too so he dosent have to destroy his oem package tray. and you need the staple gun to staple the cloth around the edges and inside the mounting rings. defentally dont use glue when you stretchin a peice of cloth over somthin like that, always go with staples. trust me the mdf baffels will work alot better than a close hanger dalton lol.

just trust me! a staple gun is a must for fiberglass work
superglue + activator = better than staple gun for most applications

im talkin about for when you stretch the fleace over the rings. how can you get an even stretch when you gotta sit there and wait for glue to dry, not to mention tryin to aply the glue and hold the fabric in place? just seams like a pain in the ass to me. more time consuming and more difficult. olny time i use glue is the the peices that hold the rings in there placewhile your glassing. even then i use hott glue because it easier and faster. but i defentally say staple gun for stapleing the fabric in place because it faster easier less messy, speaking of witch how do you glue the fabric around the rings and edges without gluing your fingures to it? just dosent make sense to me

Staple gun is definetly the way to go. Quick and easy. Super glue/tec-bond might work well in some areas, but IMO, stapling is much faster and cleaner on the hands...just stretch and shoot. Not to mention, glue and activator is pricey.

plus if you screw up, ie. dont have the fabric pulled toght enough, you can just pop out the staple tighten it up and shoot a new staple. wiith glue onece you glued you glued fo good lol
