That's right, my old boss finally hooked me up with that old Torino I mentioned. It's a 99% original 1971 Gran Torino GT with the 351. My wife really likes it, so I think I'm going to keep it for her. She's going to sell her '96 Trans-Am, so if you know anybody interested :D Anyway, here's a pic:

Cool deal  I always liked that style Torino. Let's see.. a Harley a Chevy a Caddy and a Ford. Now you need a Mopar. :D

this is a Windsor cover

this is a Cleveland/ Modified(also known as a Midland) cover

a Cleveland is a smallblock size while a Modified is closer in size to a big block

It should be a Cleveland motor. If you plan on doing any modding change it over to a Windsor based motor because the Windsor parts are dime a dozen unlike the Clevland stuff.

not to mention Windsors dont have the oiling problems that the Clevelands do.

It's a 99% original car, I don't think I'll be modding it. It's all numbers matching and shit as far as I know. Here's the engine:

Keep the clevland. Parts aren't that hard to find if you know where to look. They aren't as plentiful as windsor products, but still enough of them out there.. and if it's a 2v clevland it'll make more power than a 351w would stock to stock.
Nice find Frank.
Enjoy it.

The air cleaner says 351 2V, so I guess it's a 2V Cleveland. Sweet!

I know the meet, I used to take my '67 SS up there all the time. I gotta get the old Torino running and clean, and then I'll let my wife drive it up there. I'll still be bringing the old SS to show. It's nicer :D

Cool, your wife has the Ford's equivalent of the Chevelle, we should line the wives up some time (ignore all the 'race car' shit Janien has, it really would be a good race  )

Yup. The Torino has some 'race car' shit too. It has flowmasters and flames on the paint. That makes it faster, right?

And yes, the Engine bay is terrible. I'll worry about detailing that after the exterior looks good and the interior doesn't smell like a year worth of rat living in there.

My boss used to drive it every day, like 3-4 years ago. He bought an '02 Viper, his wife got a new V8 Jeep Cherokee, and they both got sport bikes. That left very little time for the old Ford Muscle, so it sat. That's when the stink came along :D

Luckily, I'm white trash, so he knows I'll take good care of that Ford for him.

Hell yeah! We'll let Julie drive up front, you know, just in case she breaks down

I'll let you know when I get it running, but I'm assuming it'll be this weekend. Hopefully I can find an exhaust manifold or some headers somewhere.

you know a 429 SCJ would be hot under the hood

Nope, gonna leave the stock 351. The car is already kinda ugly, there's no sense in messing up it's original, numbers matching value by sticking a different engine in it. I'll leave all the hotrodding to the Camaro. Its numbers are already fucked up!

 Have faith she'll be fine. It just may take time to get all the bugs workded out. Just don't let that discourage her :). Teach her the basics though, it will help if she gets stuck on the side of the road, or AAA is good idea  .
