on to stage #1. i took about 60 sg feet of insulation. i bout a huge roll at home depo for about 10 bucks.

okey now that we have the whole trunk stuff`d like a huge turkey.

on to stage #2. but just with this i did notice a huge differance.

okey this is my attemt at doing something i have never done befor and it just seem`d like the right way to do it. i have put about 7-9 pounds of extra weight in the trunk lid. and i have no rattle in the trunk.

i also took the auto dimming mirrior/compas off and put on of the old school ones on. it makes a lot of noise.

Stage #3 of this will be to cover the whole trunk with the same liner as my sub floor. to really make it look clean.

That has got to be the cleanest Dynamatting job on a lid evar. Are you planning on covering the dynamat with something else? maybe a cute lil STI trunk cover?
It never amazes me how much work people go through to stop other people from hearing their trunk rattle.

I'm taking a lsightly different path - I faced the sub into the vehicle and faced the three ports upwards with a false wall sealing off the rear from the front - 0 rattle and a lot louder bass.

yes i will be covering the dynamat with the same truck covering that was used for the false flooring.

Agreed^^... Trunk / Bumper / Exhaust rattle is lame. As for the dynamat job. It seem about average. There are many economical ways besides using dynamat brand dampening material. Personally, I think it was a waste of time with the HD insulation. I always 'mat my car when I plan to do a system. Head to toe. Take out all the seats, including back, and the carpet and mate the inside of the truck, inside cabin, trunk lid, and sometimes the headliner on SUV's. hehe, a friend of mine used rolls of lead to dampen things. hehe, crazy quiet.

i have seen a truck that the cab was aucually pour`d lead... crazy, shizzz.

the only reason i have done this was it was really cheap. and i wanted to make sure i got it all. my sub really pounds.

Yea, thats what I'm going to do, but I want it done RIGHT. I'm picky as hell when it comes to my car audio.

i disagree with notaloddastyle

I go to great lengths to deaden the rattle in my truck. I have 3 layers of edeadv.2 on the rear hatch and 2 layers of edead everywhere else in the trunk. On the rest of the truck (doors, floor, panels) i have 1 layer. The only thing now is the damn back window, it bounces so much in the rain it lets water in!

I wasnt makin a point tho :p I just said I am amazed at what lengths people do go to...

Myself, my trunk rattles like a bitch because I mounted a LED light bar under the spoiler that smacks against my trunk. But yes, I have also dynamatted my interior trunk space, but not with dynamat, and not to the above extremes...

i filled my hatch with expanding foam. then when i got a new spoiler i hada weld shut a hole that the wires went through for the leds on my old spoiler. to make a long story short a fire extinguisher came in handy that day lol. not too much dammage just hada grind out the paint a little farther than i origionaly planned. oh well all is good now, cars in the paint booth rite now. NOTE TO SELF, EXPANDING FOAM IS HIGHLY FLAMIBLE. worked good to stop the ratle in the hatch tho
