any recommendations for oil in the sr20 for road race? i was thinking running castrol gtx 20w50 (like i did in all my other cars), and using a k&n oil filter when at the track... go or no go? thanks

i run 15w40 valvoline, or castrol non synthetic, only because i dont know if synthetic was run in the motor in japan or not, and i dont want to create any problems.

20w50 non synthetic
synthetic is BAD for ball bearing turbos.

wow, oem nissan filters are the choice pic eh? don't recommend fram, or k&n, or any other brand? as for the synthetic being bad for ball bearing turbo's... anyone else had experience on that? i'm pretty sure my gt25r turbo is ball bearing...

yes it is, and it will cut down the life of your turbo by about 1/2

I should have asked if you know what type of oil was previously run in the car. If you don't know then 20w50 should be fine. If you are worried about temps, get an oil cooler.... It's on my upgrade list.

yes, an oil cooler will be on the car. but, someone please explain why synthetic is not good for ball bearing turbo (don't know, so i'd like to know). tuners in japan run it a lot of times (fusion, re super oil, hks racing oil, etc)... thanks

I think you should do your own research on oil and not rely on this forum to tell you that synthetic oil is bad for your turbo. (I, for one, don't buy it... but I'm not going to argue with these guys about it)
Synthetic oil is good.
