there is a coolant line on the back of the heads you need to remove.

the heads are on pretty good, and there are dowels, so try to give it equal force up...i cant talk much though, i pulled my engine and ended up using the engine hoist to pull the heads off.

pry bar on the inside of the heads where it comes over the lifter valley.. this way u dont damage the actual mating surface..

ok, i got the drivers side off no prob...but the pass side...the 2 bolts all the way in the back...not the ones under the valve cover, but the ones that are outside of the head...i cant get the exhaust manifold out of the car (its moving freely, all unbolted...) but i can get it out...any ideas?

Come on Phinger, use your fingers, or maybe a long needle-nose pair of pliers!

coolant lines arent a pain in the ass.. just make sure u get the right size socket on them.

3 bolts on the ypipe hold your manifold in... u might have to drill them out because they may be rusted.

What won't, they Y-pipe won't dis-attach to the mani. or the mani won't come out of the car?, it prob won't till you can get the head off, but least its loose and hanging out of the way.

I'd just disconnect the cat from the i-pipe and drop the hole thing, less hassle

I dropped the y-pipe and removed the dipstick and still had to wrestle with it
