Well, after an age of giving me various problems, I finally got my car started today! As most of you know, its a 1998 Dodge Neon Coupe with a 2004 SRT-4 engine swapped in, running a 20g Hahn turbo, with 2.0L cams and the BS assembly removed. The fuel is run by MegaSquirt(a fuel computer/stand alone) and the igniton is handled by a Ford EDIS-4 system, which recieves its spark advance signal(SAW) from MegaSquirt. Right now it will start(and sound badass as all hell) but almost immediatley dies, which may be caused by either A. Fuel settings within MegaSquirt, which I will again play around with, or B. The VR sensor(aka crankshaft position sensor, but called a VR sensor because its mounted externally), I will need to make a new bracket for this because I have a feeling my solid motor mounts cause too much vibration for this one, maybe causing it to miss some signal, causing the engine to cut off. Anyway I was just posting because its finally getting there, just minor issues now
Make sure that VR sensor doesnt move , I had hell with mine on my MR2 I ran Megasquirt on ...
BTW Good job , you should bring it out to a trackday or one of the meets we have i'd really like to look at it up close ...

I'll bring it out as soon as its 100% finished...still need to make I/C piping and redo my exhaust for it, as well as get my VR sensor bracket figure out again...preferably some heavier steel than what I am currently using to prevent movement due to vibration

Congrats on your hard work.
So how do you like the megasquirt so far? I am helping a friend build his car (AE86) and we are going to use a Megasquirt with EDIS-4 too. We just started to moch up the EDIS-4 system placement but have been busy with building the intake and exhaust. I am hoping the Megasquirt is going to be easy to street tune with a wide band.

well, I was using the Megasquirt with my previous engine in the car using the neon code(previous engine was a built 2.4L from a 96 sebring) and it is really easy to street tune...even using a narrowband it ran like a champ...right when I got my wideband is when it decided to spin a rod bearing, forcing me to switch engines(that 96 motor is down for an overhaul at the moment) MegaSquirt is great...a much better alternative than high priced standalones, being open source its always getting new features added by so many different users...the only thing that has really caused an issure for me so far is the VR sensor mounting and thats only because I dont have access to the steel I would need to make a real bracket(I am going to make a megabracket that bolts to both sides of the engine to make damn certain that sensor never budges) but yeah, i reccomend MS for anyone looking for a fuel computer...for the cost of SAFC(less if you build one from scratch) you can have a full standalone system(plus the cost of the EDIS stuff) plus you get nifty features like boost, launch, and nitrous control if you want them...only downside...you need a laptop to change settings...I for one hate my llaptop...going to switch to a PDA so I can mount it somewhere on or in the dash or console

We have everything but the Megasquirt right now. Already have all the EDIS-4 parts, got them through a mechanic that had extra Escort parts.
I'll make sure we secure our VR sensor well. Thanks for the tip. We're actually at this step right now. We separated the Ford trigger wheel off the escort pulley and are trying to figure out where we are going to mount the VR sensor so the trigger wheel can be properly welded onto the Toyota 4AG crank pulley. Chances are we will be making a CNC bracket for our VR sensor, so it should be sturdy :)
Again congrats on getting your car running again!

he he, thanks guys, its still not fully running yet though...I really think its the VR sensor bracket setup that needs to be changed out, anyway I'll bring it out and about once I get the kinks sorted out...loks like I wont be able to work on it in any great detail for a couple weeks though...wont have a weekend to spare until after this next one, if I could post a sound clip on hear, I would record one...it sounds pretty mean until it dies, but then, thats not too surprising because its still missing an exhaust, I'll bring it up when I'm done John....he he, this motor is more mild than the old one...but at least it doesnt have a scratched crankshaft that will cause a spun rod bearing in 7k miles

do you want a rematch?????

you mean when I dont have an unknown boost leak eating away my power and when I downshift to third instead of 4th? the question is...how badly do you want to lose? actually I still need to get a new clutch...I'm still on my stocker and I think this time it will go after about 3or 4k more miles, it already has over 100k on, with 7k of those pretty heavy torque abuse

heh, wouldnt surprise me with my luck Valrico, but an update...I have since cleared up my last few problems and the car now runs 100%, well, 99.999 anyway, I still have I/C piping, alternator bracket and a downpipe to go, but I just finished culling the last of my worthless stock wiring today and got it all running and idling nice...it sounds mean as all hell, just need a couple weeks more and I will be driving it once again
