hey, im trying to get some rear window louvers for my car. BUT! ive called j.c.whitney,npd, and they use 3m double sided tape to connect them to the car http://tamparacing.com/forums/tamparacing/smiles/mad.gif.im not gonna spend 200 dollars on something that someone could just swipe, but i dont want to drill into the car. the 280 datsun we used to have had louvers on tracks, so there was no drilling and no 3m tape. does anyone have any suggestions? i was considering making them, i could probably make the tracks with some thought, but i would rather buy them and slap them on the car.thanks

im about to consider buying the metal-not the abs plastic- louvers, and at school makin a bracket to screw the louvers onto the tracks, instead of using 3m tape. but i really would prefer to just buy something to bolt on.

Here's the real question: Who the hell would steal louvers off of a car?

If the 3M tape is anythign like what I used on my old roll pan and hood scoops, it ain't just comming off w/o breaking what ever you are pulling.

Someone who doesn't want to spend $200 on them.
My only question was how does the tape hold up through weather? I agree w/ Graves though about breaking them. That tape is tough. I would just wonder how long it lasts.

well, if you all think the tape is strong enough to hold, i think i'll go ahead and get them when i get the money. thanks for the input!

I'll put it this way it took me and my brother to pull plastic Lund hood scoops off and in the process it actually misaligned my hood. It's tuff. And if it does come off or doesn't stick well I suggest go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some of the exterior 3M tape they sell. It will never come off lol.

Just make sure you prep the surfaces well where the tape adheres to and you should be good.

The ones I had on my 78 Trans -Am had tabs on them that tucked in behind the window trim, no tape.. Have you tried the junk yard? Aren't the rear windows the same on all camaro's and firebirds 73-81? (i've seen some in the yards before) I actually took mine off when I had mine. Thought it looked better with some dark tint.

I think your car looks great without them.
