planning on having a new in-dash cdplayer (deck) installed, should i just go to circuit city?

im not sure if the speakers work (contacted original owner a few minutes ago but im not sure if ill get a response today), how can i check this? can circuitcity do this? i dont want to have to pay any extra money than i should have to, but i thought circuitcity did free install which is nice, and i think its got warranty

Both Cc & Best Buy Offer Free Deck Installs - Labor Only

You Still Will Need A Wire Harness / Dash Kit (bb Is Cheaper)
Speakers Can Be Tested If They Are Connected - Wont Be Able To Tell You If They Are Good Until They Are Listened To.

Take an ohms meter to the harness and look got 4ohms on each + - point for the speakers. Generally, if you can get to the harness you dont need BB or CC to install your stereo though. Just let the pros handle it for you.

On another note, dont pay ~$40 for the kit & harness either.

this harness? (i have a pioneer deck in there currently)

i think thats what is messed up... i have gotten to this before (taking dash apart a little bit), and i can do it again, so should i just buy this and try to replace it? i have powered my deck up before, but i unplugged the power since the wiring was screwy, i didnt want to mess anything up for any reason. is it relatively easy to replace this wiring harness?

No, if you currently have a Pioneer deck in there, and it was installed correctly, you wont need any parts to install a new radio.

So your current Pioneer deck turns on but no speakers play?

P.S. Theres nothing wrong with a Circuit City install...but Id recommend not going to the Spring Hill store. I havent heard great things about their installers(this coming from a fellow Circuit City installer). Go to the clearwater store, or AVE Audio. Or DIY is always good.

well the pioneer deck appears to work fine, and i just heard back from the previous owner that the speakers work fine, but when i tried hooking it up (he had just thrown it in, it wasnt hooked up, he had a diff one in there), it didnt fit right ot anything, the wiring was all messed up. so i was thinking maybe i have to get the wires for the deck

The shape of your factory harness

If installed correctly, there should be a harness like below that the pioneer deck wires connect to, that plugs directly into your factory one.

you think it could be the speaker wire? cause im pretty sure it should be working... i believe that is the speaker that has a bunch of wire problems tho, i want to get someone to look at it tho, it seems like something might be messed up in the connections to the speaker, the positive and negative connectors but im not sure

i really wanted to get this done tonight lol, ive gone so long without audio (like 2 months)

pull the speaker that is working and plug it into the plug from the one that isnt. Any sound? if not then run new wires and save yourself the headaches. If you get sound then you know its a bad speaker. Go to walmart and drop $30 on a pair of el cheapos and they will still sound better than stock, or alternatively, walmart also has OEM speaker replacements for 10$

i got it all working but now it seems like maybe the harness from the deck is loose or something, sometimes sound cuts out completely, but the deck keeps playing the song. all speakers are wired and crimp'd correctly
