as we all know, my alero does not have working A/C, or a working drivers window. for the first 2 months i have been hitting the switch in hopes of it working...obviously, i gave up.
since the end of june i have been sweating my ass off in that car with only one working window....i for one, welcome the new found coldness that has subsided upon us.
2 days ago, im driving down dale mabry, and in my extreme level of tiredness accidentaly hit the swtich for the drivers window....and it goes down.
wtf??????

GM has had the shittiest electronics lately. You have no idea how many windows and swtiches we replace in cars that are less than a few years old.

My eclipse has done that but the passenger side window won't go down, now that its cold its been going down on its own, the thing is possessed I tell ya!
Maybe the heat affected the motor for it or something and it enjoys the freshness.

New cars = shit. My '87 Caddy has all working, all original power windows, power seats, power locks, etc... The worst problem I have is that I might have to hit the switch twice on the passenger side to unlock the doors. That's it.

+1
you should remove the switch it may be just dirty or sticking with some "aftermarket glue" (after what you do in that car to scare old folks...it could be anything  )

GM's also have a tendency to break wires inside the doorjambs leading to those type issues.

GM's also have a tendency for everything to break inside the doorjambs, under the hood, the front end, interior parts, leading to all bullshit type issues causing premature failure of cheap parts.
fixed

apparently gm window motors have a sort of circuit breaker built into the window motor.. its actually part of one of the power wires. when the motors get old, it puts an increased load on that circuit breaker causeing it to kick off.. which is why you have to wait a while to finish putting your window up. The heat might have affected your motor enough it wouldnt work and the cool kinda let it work. Was it slow when it went down or did it work normal?

it worked perfectly normal, normal speed and everything, and has worked flawlessly for almost a week now.

yep... works well till the motor gets tired.
simple trick i used back in the 3rd gen days..... one drop of solder across the "circuit breaker" (which is nothing more than two pieces of metal laying on top of each other, that when they get hot lift apart) and its all fixed.
now why in the hell they have that AND a normal circuit breaker in the fuse box. is just some dumb ass gm shit but once fixed they work forever.

i've seen that in both a ford and a few DSMs
no clue why...
