Flip up dvd in replace of airbag

I aint sure if this has ever been attempted i want to take the passenger side airbag out and put in a dvd player the screen flips up on the dash and the player would go in the glove box i have no idea how about to do this or if its even been done before any advice?

Im pretty sure you would set off a bunch of srs codes by pulling the air bag, ignoring that there may be laws against it. Plus the air bag have a shitload of hardware that would not be wise to mess with, you may inadvertantly set off the other air bags or worse, disable them.

Would definitely look cool though.

theres law that say u have to have a driver side airbag atleast i dont know how about doing it though i aint too knowledgeable about pullin an airbag out

when and if you do this the correct way and pop the dash and disconnect take the battery out or unhook it and if you blow it out stay away from the inside of the car.

btw - the powder that the airbags a packed with is really hard to clean up...

well thats simple enough put plastic over everything

dont blow it! if your if its a teg it coms out verry easy. take out the glove box and remove the 6 10mm nuts and lift it out. i actually thought about doin this in my teg. the plastic peice can be seperated from the bag so you can use that to look like the airbag is still there untill you hit a switch and flip it up. alls you would need is a hindge, window moter and some creativity. btw i have disasembeld the airbag in my car so i know it can be taken apart without blowing it. dont risk having to replace your windshild. it comes out all to easy!!! send me a pm if you need more info or help cuz i was gonna do this on my teg. just dont got the mony

btw i got a extra set of airbags. fl dosent have vehical inspections so i wouldent worry about breaking laws just dont kill anybody cuz theres no airbag. but in case you move to a state where your car needs to have a safty inspection it would be wise to have a spair airbag to toss in to pass inspection

theres one way you could do it. i would make it flip up tho instead on just making it rise vertically. but i gess if you wanted to keep it simple that works. not to clean lookin tho in my opinion. looks flimsy

1st, yes, placing something in the air bag space has been done many times before.

2nd, the air bag and all it's components are removable. In addition, these components are usually very valuable. You can usually turn around and sell it for as much as a couple thousand dollars.

3rd, don't attempt this yourself, leave it to a professional, specifically a professional who's done it many times before.

When it all boils down, I'm willing to bet your best option is to just find another place to put your dvd player because not only are you going to fuck your car up, it's also going to cost a pretty penny.

i have done this to my car. very easy! i had to pull the pass side airbag for my ps in the dash and i took out the airbag on the driver side for my racing steering wheel. everything is removable. just take ur time and make sure to disconnect your battery and you are fine.
