He bought them online which was prolly not the best idea but you know ppl gotta have hte best price in town. And I know how to make the plate I just didnt have a jigsaw handy in the back of my car... or the inverter. Needed thread? no. But it is aduio related and SA pplz should know betta than that ;)

Agreed.

Id put 6.5 components in there anyway if it was my truck. Sound is round.

I dunno shit abour sound, but I think 6x9s sound way better. I had 6.5 Boston Acoustik NX65 and cheapo as 6x9s topped them.

So now all 6x9's will sound better no matter what? In what aspect? my 3 ways are all round, save the tweeter I think I kicked, and I think they shit all over 6x9's. Besides the IASCA guys have to be doing something right.

Well then why argue?

Sound waves are meant to be reproduced by a circle not an oval. What your ears like is a different story.

That about sums it up. ;) I think it's a given in the world of audio that 6.5's sound better than 6x9's. And yeah, the salespeople at SA, as well as most other car audio shops, don't know most vehicle speaker sizes. There's a good chance they were just trying to get them to buy a set of components though...in which case 6.5's would be the best choice.

6x9s will put out more lower end response but they have a very curved overall response which makes them a bad choice for SQ.

'Sound waves' as you put it can be reproduced with anything, circle or not. It just happends that a circular form is best to eliminate the cone resonating and creating innacurate sound.

The polk mmc 650s are all behind the stock door =( gettin the crossovers in there was fun. Anyone thinking about gettin that Qform box for the 02+ Rams is highly recommended. It was like $120 and performs similarly to a fiberglass box but took us less than 15 minutes to put in. When the Rear seat is down it looks 100% stock... excluding the head unit.

Thanks to Jay @ Ave for the wiring & kits.
