Alright, so I forget about my wife's car running like shit until she lets me drive it. Today I took it work, so I remembered. Looking online, O2 sensors, for all 4, are going to run me over $200 to replace. Only one of the sensors is throwing a code. Should I jew out and just replace the one sensor? I think it's an upstream sensor that's gone bad, so maybe I should replace both upstreams? What's the recommendation on these cars? I really don't wanna spend $200 on electronic crap. I really hate computer controlled cars.

Usually its the upstreams that go bad. Just replace the one that is broken.

I'm all about it. I'm gonna run the scan tool on it tonight, see which one is bad, and take it from there. One bad O2 sensor would cause the car to bog when the throttle is hit, right?

It's been throwing a code for ~30k miles. It's definitely shot.

The rear sensors are only there to make sure the catalytic converters are in place and working. If there was a code or SES light but the car was running fine, I'd check the back ones. Since the car is running like crap, its going to be one of the front ones.

to me... if one is shot (especially one of the fronts) Ill replace both, especially if they are stock. Itd only be a matter of time before the other goes. Call it preventative maintence ;)

Yeah, I forget what sensor and bank, but I'll check again later when I get in the car. What's the word on the Bosch sensors on an LT1? I've heard they're fine from some people and no good from other people.

Bank 2 Sensor 1 is the code I'm getting (P0153). That's the before-cat sensor on the passenger side, right? I'm also getting a P0300 code, which is due to a burnt wire, and a P1661 code. I have no idea what the fuck the P1661 code is about. Anybody care to elaborate?

Word. Now I have to look at her VIN and I'm so lazy. I'm off to the parts store anyway for some parts for the Caddy, so I'll probably grab her an O2 sensor.

Just picked up an O2 sensor and some plugs. Once URFUCT gets me the hookup, I'll have a full tuneup set. Now I just need to bribe somebody to do the plugs for me.
