I have an 86 camaro. My car is nearing completion ( a few days) and I am wondering what i could be running time wise in the 1/8 or 1/4
With my old 350 setup i ran a best of a 7.6@95mph with a 2.0 60ft on dr's
on a 125 shot. tuned it put 400hp at the tires. i had fastburn heads and a gm dual plane intake and 675 carb. 1.5 roller rockers, etc.
my new setup consists of a 383 stroker, eagle forged comp 11.1 to 1 assembly, custom grind hyd. roller cam, ported dart pro 1 heads (2.08/1.60 valves, 215cc runners), edelbrock air gap rpm intake, holley 750 carb, and whatever shot of n20 i want...
700R4 tranny, worked, built right this time, 3.73's out back, im hopeing to have what i had on spray on the motor, and spray on top of that...

i will say low 7 range.i will also say get rid of the intake all edelbrock intakes have a problem with the fuel puddling at the bottom of it.i would get a brodix one u can get them off of ebay cheap.

my brother has a dart intake and pro 1 heads with th350 and 3.89 gears in his 69 camaro. He has run 10.97 on a 125 shot in the summer. NA he has run 12.2.

all edelbrock intakes have a problem with the fuel puddling
All? Really? Does the fuel just know it's an edelbrock intake and say, "fuck it, we're puddling here"

i swear u always got something smart to say.its the design of there intakes.they dont really do any r&d with there intakes like they do with there heads.there intakes are the next best thing compared to a damn knock off china one.they just make sure every thing lines up good and thats it.if u dont beleave me next time u got a engine on a dyno put a edelbrook intake on it then pull it and put a holley, dart or brodix and u will see a big diffrence.

Only when someone says something that doesn't make any sense. If you made a comment like "engine builder X noticed a power increase when he switched from the edelbrock X model intake to a dart, the only reason they could come up with is possible fuel puddling" I would have probably left it alone, but there is no way that every single edelbrock intake suffers from fuel puddling.

i have an edelbrock intake, there is nowhere for fuel to puddle, i look down the holes and all i can see are valves. what scientific methods were used to come up with your theory?

My Edelbrock puddles, in two places actually. But I don't think I would go to the extreme of changing out my intake. A rag will soak it up and the stain the fuel left behind hasn't seemed to hurt it's performance so far.
Here I took some before and after pics for you

Then help me out and explain why Pat Musi and Shafiroff both sell compete crate motors with Edelbrock intakes on them :dunno:

At least I know my intake is to blame for my carb leak now.

I know of a few big guys that have gotten better gains with Edelbrock intakes...Reher Morison being one of them. It all depends on the set up you are using.

the funny part is all the intakes are fully ported and polished that comes on every last engine all these people do.not a stock edelbrook intake..why dont u call these people and tallk to them.i have and they told me to use a brodix intake with my setup.i did not talk to bennett racing though but seeing how musi or shafiroff will be building my new engine since i will be up in that area.also i have talked to gene fulton and he was the one who strongly stated not to go with a edelbrook intake do to them puddling.he also told me to run 2 fogger setups instead of using 1 fogger and a plate system.but then again i'm building an all out race engine not no 500hp or 600hp small block.i was just passing on what i have found out from doing my research.as fair as this thread goes i'm done with it.

That's the only part of what you said that matters.
Is this race engine going to be seen, or will you be leaving the boards for 6 months and then coming back with glory stories about how fast it went?????????

Because when I think "all out race engine" I think crooked ass ports and crud in my bolt holes

And when I go to the track and see the pros run, I picture them asking question like these when they are BS'ing in the pits:

Sorry I felt the need to be a dick, but I don't think someone that can't get a driveshaft out of their car should be preaching to others what to do with their set up, and certainly not trying to argue. Maybe it's just me :dunno:

bbb yes i had to ask about how to take out a drive shaft when the last time u did something like that was when u where 12 and your 22 now.somethings do slip the mind.i never came on here talking about how fast my other engine ran because it did not run in a car but i do know the numbers that it made.i dont have the engine any more i sold it back in march..but just to let u know that it was almost identical to the engine in acme racing drag radial car but mine had more cubes and theres has gone 7s in the 1/4 on juice.i have know reason to try and b.s people.my new heads do need to be cleaned up still and that chunk in the bolt hole is a part of the head that ups busted off during shipping the heads are going to felber probley to be redone since ups did alot of damge to the heads and the black mark is just a chunk of grease that came off my finger when i was looking at the exh ports.now since u like to be a dick on here where is your 10 second car or faster, have u ever built or had small block engine that made almost 900hp n/a.shit u probley couldn't afford to have one done.so its ok it will be alright u can keep on going around the board being a dick and trying to call every one out.
have a nice day.

Someone who's mechanically inclined could have looked at their driveshaft and figured out how to remove it, especially if they had done it 10 years earlier.
I built my 10 second drag radial stock bottom end 5.0 in '98 from the ground up in two weeks. Made the first nitrous pass on that set up in front of the hotel in Atlanta, made the second in the first round of true street, then the third, then the fourth, and what do you know, took second place on drag radials when they were still allowed (and everyone else was doing it) to swap to slicks. I know it's fun to argue on the internet about what so and so said you should do and what you read here and what you heard there and how your motor is "just like" a motor that ran 7's in the 1/4, but until you actually get your hands dirty and do it yourself, you are just talking shit. I realize that me having the fourth fastest stock long block B-body is just a joke to you, but I did that myself as well and my wife is able to comfortably drive it to work everyday. Now go check your builder to make sure everything will be done in time for your mechanic to install it and STFU.

gt3 sum is talking about my 331 engine witch i still have at this current moment an time.i was talking about the 412ci engine that i never put into the camaro i had.and i will be building the new car from the ground up.but i will let a pro build the engine because there will be to much money into it for me to build a short block for the first time and risk the chance of it going bang.u may have the 4th fastest b body and yes that is a joke to me.i think its funny that u make that claim when there is probley only 8 people out there trying to race them.now i'm going to stop the thread hi jack on this newbs first post and let him figure out what his car will run.but knowing u bbb u will type something back.....this sure is getting fun..

Yes, UPS has kept many pro racers from completing projects on time, I hear about it all the time. Now, please, just stop. PM me if you wish to continue this but I have proven my point and you continue to prove it for me with every post............
oh guys please don't stop, this is to amuzing for us here. This is why I never try to post on peoples setup because of all the armchair race car drivers. I'm over 40 and have gone as fast as 7:60's in the quarter mile and it never seems to amuze me when others at the track are always giving advise to others when they themselves have never been fast or their car is a load or toad or just a piece of s**t. I do know that there are a whole bunch of b-bodies that run strong and surprisinly fast. And yes there are more then 8!
