was purchased new by James Owens in 1970 just for drag racing. James had sold the car to Jack Blosser in TN whom also owned a Hemi Challenger and was a avid Mopar drag racer. In 1971 the motor blew up in the Challenger and the Hemi was taken out of the Cuda and put in the Challenger. In 1972 the car was brought back to GA and sold at the Hays Mopar meet to Mr William Nolte. The car then sat in his garage in Kennesaw GA with the plan to restore the car back to the original condition with his son witch never came to fruition. In 2004 a friend of ours by the name of Mark Reeves whom owns Then and Now restorations told a local avid Mopar collector about this car. It was a rolling chassis with 14,975 original miles. That was in need of a full restoration. He purchased the car out of his love for Mopars and decided to have it restored to concourse condition. In searching for parts for the car he had contacted Galen Govier about the possibility of locating a date coded Hemi engine. He said he would get back to him if he had located something. Some three weeks go by and Galen had called and to everyones surprise he had located a 1970 Challenger at a local car dealership in WI. After doing a visual inspection on the car it was learned that this was the 70 Challenger the second owner had and put the original matching numbers Hemi engine out of the Cuda in. After long and careful conversations he was able to buy the Challenger and retrieve the engine from it. This is a amazing car story that will melt any Mopar hearts out there. You will probably read about this story in a magazine someday and know it came from American Street Machines. This car is under going a full rotisserie restoration and will be available in early spring. If you are searching for 1 of the most rare Mopars with a great story behind it then you need to look no further. incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool story and car...I'm trying to work a deal right now for a 1970 LS6 Chevelle with 7,600 documented miles. I don't think the wife will go for a $400,000 roller though. LOL!

i dont think this car will bring as much as you think, being the first black cuda does not make it worth more. it doesnt make it 1 of 1 like the ad says. 14000 miles only make the car worth more if it doesnt need restored, the miles mean nothing after its been restored. 1970 hemi cudas arent bring the same money as 1971 hemi cudas.
Yeah, a restored '70 Cuda with an original Hemi and a story is only worth 450-500K. A '71 would bring 550K.
The truth is this car is going for HUGE money. I know because I know people who have already or are making serious offers.
Btw, the LS6 got sold for 135K..That may be a record? And a friend of mine was offered 100K+ just recently for his '70 z/28 which is argueably the best in the country. Barrett-Jackson ought to be a riot in Jan.
Sex ...
I wish I would have never gotten rid of my 340 6 pack Cuda resto project
