So I'm driving down the road and car floods out. After waiting 2hours for tow I got it home and had my brother look at the carb while I tried to keep it running. He noticed that the primary boosters were throwing all kinds of fuel out eventhough the engine was just off idle. I have no clue why they are coming on so soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Carb is a holley dbl pumper.

AAA sucks!!! 40 minutes to them is 7200 seconds in real people time.

You got something stuck in there. Tap on the side of the bowl with a wrench and maybe it will free it up. Otherwise it looks like its time for a rebuild.

sound like a stuck fuel float or a stuck or bad needle valve.

rebuild kit is like 35$..it not hard to do either i just did mine and i really never fucked with a carb beside basic tunning.just make sure u do the steps in order.also u might want to do it over a catch can or something of that sort because a shit load of gas will come out when u start to tare it down.get something to put all the parts in.a seperated tray works well.

Check for garbage in the needle.

fuel is gushing out of the primary boosters at idle. have change all needle/seats and new gaskets. fuel bowl level is correct.

Check for garbage in the needle.

I was going to say the same thing. I had it happen to me and left me stuck on the side of the road as well before. But if you checked it already then :dunno:

Doesn't a blown powervalve produce the same sort of symptoms? When I ate the one in my 750, that thing would just supersoak my engine.

I have replaced the power valve too. Since this is my daily driver I purchased a new carb and will keep the old for backup if I can fix it. Someone on another forum suggested the problem is with the high speed airbleeds. So I will try that next.

Is it a holley? I gave up on them a couple years ago. I don't hate holleys, I just hate dinking with them. I bought a brand new HP 650 a fews years back, Ed at Gearhead tells me it should flow like a 750. It flowed more like a 1150. I never could get it to stop dumping fuel. Nothing worse than taking a brand new carb apart 15 times trying different combo's. So I went with a E-brock 750. I even let a buddy try it on his BB Chevy drag car and he gave it back.

Yeah, my Holley was a pain. I've got an EB 650 on my 350 and a Demon 750 sitting up in the closet for the 383. Hopefully the Demon is easier to tune than the Holley was.

Guys I know that have Demon's, love them. And they look cool too.

Yeah, it does look pretty cool. I paid <$40 for it off this ricer kid, so I couldn't really be too picky, you know? It's a 750 with mechanical secondaries, so it's a little much for the 383, but I might be able to tune it on.

yeah its a holley, for all out power it's hard to beat. For a daily driver the eb is more reliable and doesn't sacrafice much power
