With the exception of moderators, post up what you think.

i agree with matt in some aspect but what about the people that have valid questions but might not have been to an event or anything. i mean ya you get your "pop tarts" but like i said what about the honest points or questions. im sure they will still be answered and all but ya. ahhh nm sry for rambling.

not just those events, but also ones that can prove that they actively drift. we all started street drifting, but like ziptied, it needs to be proven.
if you limit this forum to those people only, you should just consider the forum closed. I wouldnt imagine it would get much attention. I say you keep a close eye on it, its not like its out of control, if they cant ask here, they will ask in another forum where people will get pissed and say "isnt there a drifting forum"

Honestly, I dont like this kind of attitude. While I think its great you want to clean up this forum, you are doing it in a way that is detrimintal to this site.

Perhaps the drifting forum could use some help but making the entire drift forum exclusive is prolly the wrong direction. what would work better IMO, would be to have a *sub-forum* like in "nissan tech", has 'nissans for sale'.
so make drifting forum like *drifting* then have a sub-forum called *active drifters chat* or something (title needs work lol) or something of the like... dont want to totally cut off the new people or the general interest types, but would be nice to have a seperate arena to talk with drivers we have all seen in action... to stop the bullshat

yeah, i kinda like what boxmod said. have a regular drifting forum and have another one like the champagne room. where you have to be a member to get in kinda deal. that sounds a littel better than just banning everyone. although i wouldn't mind banning some of the morons on here. but my idea sounds like a good compromise.

ill go with no, only because while i havent participated in any events yet, i will soon enough. and am still friends with alot of people in this forum.
i add stuff when i can, and if i dont know what im talking about, i shut up.
which is what alot of people should do.
the people i think should be weeded out are the type that just post uninformed bullshit, or post about how events are gay, because they are badass uber street drifters. and arent.
or people that are constantly negative, and talk shit.
i might make a negative comment here and there, but usually to people that describe one or two of the above.

Id say no just because of the people like me. The ones who CANT go out because they don't have a running car/somethings broke or something, moneys tight, whatever. I like just participating in the forums, whether or not i can make it out to all the events or not.

so what about the people who are just getting into drifting/ like watching people drift and figure out their ways of doing things.. its an internet site. not a VIP room. just because you have enough money to go do this stuff it doesnt make you special in any way. you guys had to get into drifting at some point. you didnt start off as cocky ass super-drifters. or did you? you sure do talk that way.
i love watching drifting, and i love talking to people who drift. i cant drift. i have a FF. but whatever.

I don't see why the drifting forum should be treated any differently then the rest of the forums on the site. There is an auto-x forum and a drag racing forum as well and they are open to anyone and provide a wealth of information for seasoned veterans as well as those who are just getting started.
The elitist attitude is pretty prevalent around car enthusiasts and can be really detrimental to the evolution and growth of the sports. The way to grow something succesfully isn't to close others out, it's to embrace the new and uneducated and turn them into constructive, knowledgable participants.

billy, have you tried dealing with the on average 14age that is prevalent in this forum? lol.
Who's all for a Driver's room ?

Honestly, no. That's why we have you and Rob. If things are getting out of control and you two don't feel you can handle them, let us know and we will step in and help out.

Yea, definitely a driver's room would be cool.
I also think that maybe a newbs FAQ should be posted listing some of the things to try to learn drifting.
(my personal opinion is to learn how to drive a car, then how to drive a car smoothly, then how to drive it fast, and finally once you've learned those, how to drift)
Every likes drifting because it's pretty much the wildest coolest parts of every race, minus the race; a continuous 'race highlight' reel or 'best save of the day'
But it's just like a big company, you don't walk in the door and get hired as the CEO, you have to work to get there. I like the way Ziptied is, but it's not appropriate here. Driver's forum is the best compromise I think.

i feel the need for a drivers' forum.
maybe even move all the for sale priviledges in there.
this way, the people that work hardest to be awesome and come out and have a good time will share and work towards this common goal.
everyone can READ the forum, but only 'drivers' will be able to reply.
i've found that none of the drivers ever have any problems with anybody on this board. i've found its the kids that are always making excuses for not coming out to events repeatedly being the reason for drama and arguments and bannings on the board.
how many DRIVERs already can agree to this ?

Matt, I've spent the last however long looking through the last 3 pages in this forum. I found 3 threads that were locked and a few that were deleted. All that were deleted were done so by the thread starter and each one that gave a description gave a valid reason that did not include drama as being the cause.
The three that were locked were because of 1) a commercial post (show me a forum that doesn't have to deal with that 2) a person posted a question that was covered in the FAQs sticky, and he got his question answered anyway, and 3) the thread was going nowhere and people had requested to have it locked...2 days later it was.
I don't see any thing out of the ordinary here that makes me think there is a problem in this forum or why there would be any need to split it. It sounds like alot of elitism, like I spoke of in my first response here.
The only thing that honestly stood out was comments from some of the drivers, who you've said need their own space away from the drama caused by others, that were uncalled for and inflammatory. And the worst part, most I saw were directed at members who were new to the sport of drifting and seemed interested in finding out more about it.
If that attitude and segregation is already starting to be shown by the "elite" in here there is no way that creating a seperate section would do anything but widen that split.
With that being said...this is not the time or place to discuss this. If you'd like to continue it further we can do so off the board.
