Default S14 SR20DE to s13 header blues!

I recently purchased a s14 sr20de for my 91 240sx fastback. It came with a pretty nice setup it had HKS/Jazma exhaust headers and a nice ARC intake with some other goodies. Two days ago I tried installing the motor but to my surprise the headers didn’t clear the steering shaft that connects to the rack and pinion so I ended up pulling out the headers and continued with the swap. I have to mess with the wiring for now so it gives me some time to find solution for my headache header problem. My first guess was to use the stock sr20de exhaust header but im not sure if I will have the same clearance issue plus its pretty hard finding a NA SR header to test fit so I tried asking around to see what options I have, some one suggested making a new piece or modifying a sr20de FWD (g20) to fit the RWD setup. Another friend suggested using a turbo manifold (a stock one or a tubular one like the SSAC one) and with a GT flange create like a down pipe to complete the exhaust system. I doubt im the only one with a NA SR on a LHD car so this problem has to have a solution can any one Help me get this car on the road.

I wish i could help with a issue like this , but i have no idea about jdm header clearences on usdm cars . Maybe it's the S14 SR20DE header that is giving you issues in your S13 ? But i would think this would be unlikely.

acutally, yes, this is a well known problem.

your best bet is to get a turbo manifold, and t25 off an sr, and turbocharge your car. get some 370cc's and a rom tune from scott. and a fmic. you'll be good to go.

actually, if i were you, i'd use a FWD NA SR20DE exhaust manifold and make a custom downpipe from there. thats what the datsun roadster guys do for clearance
