I'm putting a system into my 1999 Buick Lesabre. The component speakers will be Boston NX57s and 97s, and I'll have a nice head deck for them, maybe a small 4-channel amp. My question is on the sub part.

I'm looking for a subwoofer setup to deliver a nice extra thump, but I don't want to be cruising around with my windows rattling and trunk sounding like someone's using a grinder inside of it. Just enough sound to accent the music and make me feel a good thump.

I'm THINKING about using a single JL audio 12w3v2(or whatever it is) in a sealed box and putting my 600-wat Rockford 2-channel amp on it. Should that amp not work out, I can get my hands on an Alpine Class D 700w. Now, here's what I'm unsure of. Will this be enough sub/amp to deliver the limited amount of boom I want, or should I go to 2 subs and more amp, or 1 15 and more amp, or any other posibility. I'm hoping someone has experience with these things here because my car before this had a hatch so 2 10s rocked my fucking world, but I'm clueless here.

if your looking for like just a nice little bump that will be prefect .... I would compare the w3 to the alpine type R's but the type R's can be found for a better price ... that’s my opinion if you want to hear a type R come out to the meet tomorrow at the Sonics on waters near Hanley

I always love how everyone says the same thing "I only want a little bass, I dont want my trunk to rattle off"

Heres the order things go from here
Get something small and not very powerful, be happy for about a month.
Ride in someone elses car, and hear much better, louder bass. Get sad :(
Buy more and more and more till you throw it all in a river because it costs more than your car now.

Just keepin mind that you dont ALWAYS have to have the sub playing @ max output. I used to keep my ported 12a attenuated a bit because I didnt want loud 24/7, but when I did want it loud it was always there.

Well, see, I don't EVER want it that loud. My friend's won't impress me, because I use the racecar I'm building - and not speakers - to make up for the fact that I'm unhappy with my penis size. All I want the subwoofer(s) for is to give a niec clean clear hit of bass to add that extra bit of quality to my music.
